"Good guys" in popular fiction (including TV & movies) break the rules to help others in peril, for the right reasons, but then they face the music and even take responsibility when wrongly accused.
"Bad Guys" break rules for their own convenience (or for the pure fun of it) and ALWAYS avoid responsibility. They lack any self awareness and always blame others.

I think the character in 3:10 to Yuma played by Russell Crowe broke that rule. He knew he was bad, broke all the rules until confronted with the choice of seeing good wiped out.
I'm with the good guys every time.
What is interesting is when the line between good and bad blur. Where does one start and the other begin?

I think the writers of 24 need to go back to plot and dialogue school ... but I suspect the reason this so badly written cringe worthy dialogue is embraced by people because when times are tough people need heros. Of course they'd need only to look inside themselves and extend a hand of help to a stranger to learn how easy it is to be a real hero

I think there are fewer good guys in the world...guys (people,) being good for the right reasons. Isn't that the back courtyard of the Princess L hotel? DrumMajor
I think there's a lot of truth in what Jack Bauer says about good guys and bad guys. Not taking responsibility is the worst thing anyone can do, except for not caring. I like the Nigerian saying best.

There are so many shades of gray. I know bad guys (and gals) who always blame others, never take responsibility, no insight into why they expect others to do their bidding. I'm with the good guys, but I think we all need to take responsibility for what we do, no matter what our motives are.

But, I can see that rule working in Hollywood Blockbuster cops and robbers films...
