Saturday Morn

It's
A L O H A
Saturday!
click on photos for an extra dose of exultation.
No Charge
"There are moments of calm even at my busy beach.
Weekday mid-mornings remind me of the Waikiki of the 1950's."
Ted Trimmer Photo & Quote

From Kualoa, on Oahu's Windward Side,
you can see Mokapu (above).

"Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast."
Oscar Wilde

It is a peninsula now utilized by Kaneohe Bay
Marine Corps Airstation.
(Next stop Afganistan. Kaneohe marines are in the thick of it.)
Locals call Mokapu "The Turtle."

Kapu means "set apart" "Sacred" "keep out."
A Mo`o (Moe-Oh) is a mythical Hawaiian creature akin to a dragon.
They are reported to be very wise and powerful.
Perhaps a "Mo`o Kapu" lived at this place of power.

"Breakfast time is better than any other moment of the day.
No dust has settled on one's mind then, and it presents
a clear mirror to the rays of things."
George Elliot,
Adam Bede

He has the same facial expression as the Sphinx!

"No man knows until he has suffered from the night
how sweet and dear to his heart and eye the morning can be."
Bram Stoker,
Dracula

Friends, in the spirit of supreme Saturday laziness,
I leave you with this:

"There is really nothing you must be
And there is nothing you must do
There is really nothing you must have
And there is nothing you must know.
There is really nothing you must become.
However,
It helps to understand that fire burns, and when it rains,
the earth gets wet . . .
What's good about today is the willingness to open our minds and hearts."
Robert Fulghum,

(Author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.)

Fondly, A L O H A !

I will let them who blow their horns to rouse their soul to repetence do so and I will sit on the beach looking at turtles and quietly do the same thing.

Great post, Cloudia. Thanks for the warning on the ram's horn. I'm up early doing research for school. Don't want to wake up the rest of the household before 6 am on a lazy Saturday :) They would NOT be happy about that one.

Oi. I think my mother used to use one of those on school mornings.

Anyway, good morning, good morning! I laughed at the quote from Oscar Wilde. I love the format of your blog with the pix, quotes, and then your own words and sometimes a video. I've not seen another quite like it!

And did I say...good morning, Cloudia! :-)

Love that quote, " Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast". Reminds me of a friend of mine who is always so chatty, early in the am. Have a great weekend, cher!

Thank you for the full quote and the correct spelling of his name, I knew I had it wrong but could not figure it out. Do you know that last night I was in a Goodwill Store and came across that book, bought it so I can read it for the first time. Synchronicity, can't ignore it.

Thanks for all your great posts.
And for the great shofar blasts.

We are enjoying a quiet second day of Rosh Hashana morning, complete with first RAIN.

Aloha and happy new year, dear Cloudia.
