What I learned

Aloha to YOU!

"You are as young as your faith,
as old as your doubt;
 as young as your self-confidence,
as old as your fear;
 as young as your hope,
as old as your despair."

  Douglas MacArthur

"A circle is the reflection of eternity.
It has no beginning and it has no end -
and if you put several circles over each other,
then you get a spiral. "

Maynard James Keenan

I learned how to add sound

to my You Tube videos, and

it adds SO much. . .

. . . I hope you'll agree!

So what do YOU think?  cloudia

Stay Tuned

Aloha Welcome, to YOU!

"Follow your bliss
and the universe will open doors
                                                                    for you
                                                                                where    there were only walls."

                     Joseph Campbell

"Beauty -
in projection and perceiving -
is 99.9% attitude."

Grey Livingston

"Beauty...
is the shadow of God
on the universe."

  Gabriela Mistral,
DesolacĂon

<°)}}><

President Obama has been forced
to release his Birth Certificate.

Obviously, he is SO DIFFERENT
that many Americans
'just feel that they're not sure about him.'

For one thing, he graduated Cum Laude
 from our most esteemed University,
he held the top spot
at the top US law school
as editor of the Harvard Law Review.

How did he do that?

I mean, just LOOK at him!

Something fishy must be going on.

That wife of his has suggested
that school children
eat healthy food,
and that we honor
military families.

How DARE she!?
Someone like
THAT
will never tell ME
what to do!

You know,
some of the most serious problems
our nation, and our international system
have ever faced
are demanding our attention.

My neighbors here on Oahu,
or their children,
are on their fifth deployment
to Afghanistan.

WWII, our US Civil War,
The Great War;
They lasted what, four years?

Hawaii people are raising funds
and visiting family & friends in
Japan (remember Japan?)
to help in the devastation.

Americans are more dispirited,
including Hawaii residents,
than I have ever seen them.

The middle class is so decimated;
The gulf between those
who think everything
is just ducky-

and the vast majority of
LOSERS
in our democracy-

is now SO wide
that the media, Washington,
Dubai, and Wall Street
don't know OR CARE
about the HAVOC they are wreaking
in our fabric of social trust.

Reasonable solutions
take a back seat
to policy changes SO radical
that the head spins
as one realizes how the policy suggestions
of Nixon, Reagan & Bush the elder
are now "too far left"
as we are ratcheted click by click
into a winner-takes-all
Cloud Cuckoo Land
where booming corporations

pay NO US taxes

as our infrastructure:
social, physical, and moral
crumble.

Compare our airports, cities,
and medical systems
to those of other developed nations
and we are not number 1,
we are just numb.

All this is macro of course.

Yes, I'm a bit poorer than I was
just before the panic of 2008.

I'm glad the geniuses that caused it
have been amply rewarded.

You see,
I live in my own Cloud(ia)  Land.

Yes, I vote, testify, write, comment, call
and visit the Sate Capitol,
one HAS to.

But at end of day,
when you close your eyes,
it is the furniture of your soul-
not of your bedroom-
that really matters.

We are suffering
Malefactors of Great Wealth & Power,
but
they are getting SO far ahead of reality,
that many average people(voters!)
are remembering
their TRUE values & interests. . .

And it AIN'T about the
President's Birth Certificate!

Stay tuned.

Once, millions of humans changed their mind
and a 'thousand year' Berlin Wall
fell to dancing feet.

Jews & Arabs on the street
are fed up with the way things have been
for too long in the Middle East.

So stay Tuned.

Stay Tuned for Miracles-
be sure to look for them,
pray for them,
work for them. . .

and DO stop by 'comments'
          warmly, cloudia

"Girls" Should You Act Your Age?

ALOHA !

today's song-

"How old would you be
if you didn't know
how old you were?"

  ~Satchel Paige

"You can't hide your true colours
as you approach the autumn of your life."

Author Unknown

"It's sad to grow old, but nice to ripen."

  Brigitte Bardot

I always knew that, with luck,
someday I'd be 50.

But never really believed it.

(No, today is NOT my birthday - yet :)

"I'm not old, just not young anymore."
said ex-screen star Alexandra Del Lago
in the film Sweet Bird of Youth.

One day in my early thirties,
I realized that I was the star
of every commercial, movie, TV show, magazine.
Everywhere I looked, things were being sold to me,
or by a woman like me.

We value what is hard to get.
A young woman like I was then
is awash in testosterone.
(And perhaps hard to get)
  Men are everywhere
and she can read their minds,
because they all think alike.

If you read my novel, you know
that I have some familiarity with the sex industry
which is, after all,
the trafficking in beauty & desire.

But I remember too the longing
to be more than a sex object.

Too bad we can't bottle youth's surplus
of beauty & attraction
for days of scarcity!
Those days when we become
largely invisible
middle aged women.

And some of today's invisibility
would have been a comfort back then!

Joan Collins said,
"The problem with beauty
is that it's like being born rich
and getting poorer."

I still remember that time (years back now)
when I put on my make up and didn't see
the glow,
the magic in my mirror.

All I saw was me wearing make up:
the wealth was spent,
the illusion had fled!

Now I'm discovering the power
that comes to a
reasonably nice-looking
older woman;

The power to bless.

Younger people can act tiresome.

Young women can seem vain & shallow,

(just like I did.
I can read their minds, you see.)

But I smile like Buddha or Kwan Yin
or Mary,
blessing the people around me.

Sincerely.

I hope I look savvy,
 kind,
and approachable
as I broadcast:

"Celebrate your beauty,
your choices,
your mistakes.
That's the text of your life
out of which
you will tease the meaning
of
your personality &amp problems
from a wiser shore.

"The years teach much
which the days never knew."

  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I want them to see
that growing older is wonderful,
not a tragedy.

  They need that gift
in our youth obsessed
"culture."

"Look at me, I'm old but I'm happy."
sings Cat Stevens` Father in the song.

Regret is futile, ugly, and soul crushing:
for you and everyone else around you.

And besides,
I don't want to look back from
real "old age" and regret
that I began to feel 'old'
in my comparatively young 50s!

After all:

"Fifty is the youth of old age."

  ~Victor Hugo

And there is still much adventure ahead!

Besides:

"Everyone is the age of their heart."

  Guatemalan Proverb

And

"We turn not older with years,
but newer every day."

  Emily Dickinson

 Besides,
denying one's age
merely alienates one
from one's self. . .

Format Your Card

Aloha, Friend!

"Some people, no matter how old they get,
never lose their beauty - they merely move it
from their faces into their hearts."

Martin Buxbaum

"A man is not old
until regrets
start taking place of dreams."

       Anonymous

"At any street corner
the feeling of absurdity
can strike any man in the face."

Albert Camus

\VVV/
Did you know that the memory card in your camera needs to be "formatted?"

Even if you have been using an SD card for a while, you can still avoid problems by formatting it today!

You go into your camera's "settings"
or "set up"
and look for
'Format.'

This will erase your card,
so make sure your shots are downloaded first.

After you have formatted your card(s)
there is much less chance that the card
will malfunction!

When your computer freezes,
you re-start (re-boot) it right?

Well, your digital camera
uses lines of computer code too.

Once in a while,
it might be a good idea to
"reset" your camera.

Just go back into 'settings'
or 'set up'
and look for 're-set.'

Why not do it
today?

Thanks for visiting!
Please leave your 'hello'
        in comments- warmly, cloudia
