Just like clockwork
warm weather has arrived
in Hawaii.
All Summer long
we are cooler,
and breezier,
than most places.
But September,
and especially October,
are our 'hot' months.
The Trade Winds
-our natural air conditioner-
look to be "off"
the rest of the week.
So during the day,
the land heats up in sun,
the air over the interior
expands and rises,
drawing winds from the sea:
'sea breeze'
Then at night,
the land cools,
the air above it contracts
and sinks,
and sinks,
then this interior air
blows to the coast:
'land breeze.'
Nice to smell the mountains
and forests of the interior
in the evening!

Northern climes
are notoriously
BEAUTIFUL
in Autumn,
especially October.
You Southerners
are enjoying
SPRING!
Ah!
That is my dream vacation:
New York, New England
in October!
Maybe next year. . .
But when the cold winds blow elsewhere,
our weather reverts
to the best on the planet!
That's when our snowbirds
arrive.
So I'll see you here
after US Thanksgiving holiday
in late November.

Love the Helen Keller quote and photo above it. Unlike Windsmoke I am not looking forward to Summer. Spring is a season to be savoured, and for me, Summer one to be endured.
Love the pictures, the quotes and the dream of New York in October.
Our natural air conditioner is off, too. It's good to go out and enjoy the fragrances of later summer this time of year.

I've always liked Helen Keller quotes. She had so much wisdom. She is one of Amaerica's most incredible stories IMHO.
That's amazing to know, but it makes sense....so do you call it summer? Our seasons here in Minnesota are truly and completely all different! Oh and not to forget....What a pretty scrub brush you have! ;)
I loved Golda Meir, I was fortunate to spend a weekend with her oh so many years ago.

Hi Cloudia, sounds like things are heating up out your way, I love that nature provides natural ways to cool down, like you we get the 'sea breezes' in the afternoon/evening and the cool breeze from the desert early mornings, who needs air conditioning!! There are times haha!

Thanks for the beautiful images of Hawaii. I'm planning a return genealogy trip to Oahu soon, and have to remember to take some time to just sit on the beach and soak in the rays...
