Lei Day in Hawaii

ALOHA, Friend!

You already know
that we like to wear flowers. . .

Exotic ones. . . .

Or more common ones
like this plumeria. . . .

A lei of flowers on a humble string
is often the first gift a child gives a parent. . .

May First
is Lei Day here in Hawaii.
The City of Honolulu holds a festival
and gives ribbons to
winning lei.
(Lei is plural and singular.
We don't say "leis.")

We drape horses. . . .

And Kings on their special day. . .

 These humble lei sellers
of Honolulu's past
beckon you to come visit us!

What are you waiting for?

(There IS a 'Honolulu Hotels' link on this blog!  :-)
