I Saw an Angel

 A  L  O  H  A !

When I was little -

 " In every real man
 a child is hidden
 that wants to play. "

Friedrich Nietzsche

"  The great man is he
who does not lose
his child's-heart.  "

Mencius

" You're never too old to do goofy stuff.  "

From the television show Leave it to Beaver
spoken by the character Ward Cleaver

" So, like a forgotten fire,
a childhood can always
 flare up again
 within us.  "

Gaston Bachelard

" A child's world
is fresh and new
and beautiful,
full of wonder and excitement.

 It is our misfortune
 that for most of us
 that clear-eyed vision,
that true instinct for what is beautiful
and awe-inspiring,
is dimmed and even lost
before we reach adulthood.

If I had influence with the good fairy
 who is supposed to preside
over the christening of all children,
I should ask that her gift
to each child in the world
be a sense of wonder so indestructible
that it would last throughout life,
as an unfailing antidote
against the boredom and disenchantment
of later year…the alienation
from the sources of our strength.”

Rachel Carson,
  The Sense of Wonder

I wonder how I'd be today, if I'd had a mother like Mrs. Ward? Enjoy playing today! :)

When you think you're too old to play, you may as well give up altogether methinks. :)

The angel has been dormant within me lately. It must be awakened.

I'm so ready to resume my childhood.

Love that Rachel Carson quote. My inner child has a free reign here and is sometimes at the wheel as well. Childish? Well yes, what's your problem.....

What a lovely post. I hope I always remain young at heart.
As for the statue, I took that with my cell phone. My mother was working at 30th Street Station in the 40's and early 50's as a telephone operator for the railroad. She remembers the day that the angel statue was installed.
