Come to Hawaii - LATER

A  L  O  H  A !
A Foggy Day by Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers on Grooveshark
A Voggy Day in Honolulu

" Honor has not to be

won;

 it must only not be

lost. "

Schopenhauer

to do

and always

a clever thing

to say."

Normal Blue Hawaii Skies

"Make visible
what, without you,
 might perhaps never
have been seen."

Robert Bresson

The volcano on the Big Island
is pouring out
copious amounts
of Volcanic Haze,
called VOG
as it has for over
a quarter century!

Sulfur,
deep Earth gasses,
and who knows
what -

Usually, this is not
a problem
as the Trade Winds
blow it all away.

But, with southeast winds
the VOG makes it's way
here to Oahu.

Throats get scratchy,
the blue sky goes dull;
Moods are effected.

To me, pewter November days
are rich with memories
of growing up in Philadelphia.

The sky there seemed
shades of grey
all winter.

But I feel for our visitors.

Though they enjoy
this lovely place,
they may never know
the SPARKLING WONDERS
of our usual climate.

When the VOG blows away
(probably this weekend)
it's as if everything
goes saturated with
loveliness.

So don't visit
till the weekend
except by blog
(this one first preferably)

Do you have local issues?
Snakes? Sink Holes,
Cults?
Do share in comments.

I love YOU guys!
Thanks SO much
for paying this visit.
                                Warmly, cloudia

In Bangalore the local issue is traffic. It is so difficult to plan to get anywhere.
Stay safe from VOG.

Vog. I did not know that term.

I hope the VOG disappears so that you can enjoy the weekend!

I hope you get relief from the vog, Cloudia. Some quotes by Durant and Schopenhauer to ponder this A.M.

I would really rather like to visit while it is there to see what it is like.

Oh gee, I've been to Las Vegas with that voggy kind of haze that hung over the city, highlighted by the view of mountains pushing through, and I knew that hovering (in plain sight) voggy stuff was completely BAD! Wow, I have a friend and her family that's vacationing in Hawaii right now!

Also, my local issues is- all those November grey skies, clouding up everyone's moods! Yikes. But, I'm going to dazzle a few souls with your Bresson quote today! Stay safe, be well Cloudia!

We woke up to V-less fog here, this morning. I couldn't see across the narrow bay. I love fog but don't think I'd be too keen on what accompanies vog.

We have local issues in West Virginia: wingnuts and their politicians.

But I enjoy all our seasons...and their birdies!

I didn't know the VOG could reach from Big Island to Oahu. Poo! Until it clears, grab a can of POG, your soda juice of papaya-orange-guava. Love that stuff. Sometimes "sunshine slowdown" is pretty dangerous in K.C.; where the morning sun shines directly into your eyes while driving to work. Breathe easy today.

Isn't this vog just so annoying? It affected my mood if not my throat or eyes. It's weird to see the mountains so shrouded.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures. They are beautiful!

No cults, but we currently have a wind chill temperature of 4 degrees!

We're expecting heavy vog this afternoon, but it should be OK by the weekend. I hope so, since we're planning to go up to Volcanoes National Park on Sunday with Mainland visitors.
Have a lovely weekend, lovely Cloudia!

Gorgeous rainbows - and skies. I hope your pristine clarity and beauty returns quickly.

Your photos make everything look beautiful no matter what!

Mmm. I love that one about making things visible. Gorgeous quote.

I love the quote about saying nothing :) I also love that Big Island, volcano and all.

We're heading into what I think of as our hardest season here. Winter snow and ice storms often mean days or weeks with no power.

I've had plenty of rattlers visit me inside and outside my home. It was theirs first. i do want to go back to Hawaii but it won't be this weekend, so I'm safe. Thanks for the warning though.
