Let's GO [to] Waikiki

A  L  O  H  A !
 Let's start with the
first thing visitors know:
Diamond Head, and the Beach itself.
But there's SO much more!
After almost 30 years living there,
I have seen a lot of change, a
lot of things that seem eternal,
and lots being missed!
Like the sea turtles feeding
in shallow surf, in
plain view to nearby
visitors who never
notice them.

"There are no record
companies in Waikiki."
           Bruno Mars
[Local fellow,
played "Little Elvis"
in shows at the hotels
as a boy when I was
driving my taxi back
in the day. . . .
. . . . . . in Waikiki. . . ]

"Hawaii is paradise.
It sounds cheesy to say it,
but there's music
in the air there."
            Bruno Mars

 While the visitors
watch the sunset,
I always watched them.
They count their
Hawaii sunsets.
I always figured
that there were many
many more coming my way.

But life makes other
plans sometimes,
and even happy change
can give as well
as take. I plan on
watching & photographing
each sunset of my
visit home to
Honolulu this Winter.

I'm not EXACTLY a snowbird,
since I was local for decades,
buried family in the islands
and saw others born.

I'm going to see my Ohana [Link]
which includes dear friends
who are more bruddahs and sistahs.
I will listen to the clouds & sky,
commune with the land,
the `Aina [Link]
the Sea and
BE among the
people of Hawaii.

And I will eat at
Zippy's.
Zip Min [Link] Barack Obama's
favorite growing up!

Just for few days.
And both flights
of the round trip
will be homeward bound.
MOST CURIOUS!

Dusk in Waikiki is
ALWAYS MAGIC.

"...a lot of change..."

We went to Maui. Then went back 10 years later. Things had changed (grown) quite a bit.

Thanks, Dears! I will be going home for a visit in the early weeks of the new year. Of course, the internet being what it is, I'll let you know all about it when I'm back in Calif ;)
