Tin How Temple

A  L  O  H  A !
 “Travel makes one modest.
You see what a tiny
place you occupy
in the world.”
      Gustave Flaubert

Into busy, crowded,
jumbled, historic,
San Francisco Chinatown!
As mysterious as a
pyramid tower disappearing
into the fog. . . looking for
the Taoist temple. . . Tien Hau

1910 - The 'New' Building
"Right place, but this does NOT
look like a temple." You might say.
But long years enjoying Honolulu's
Chinatown have taught me:
Look at the little door at the
side!

I know there will be a LONG walk
up many stairs, to the temple itself
on the top floor. Here we see
European tourists ready to leave.

I was up there: Top Floor.
Oh the art I saw
and could not
photograph!

You can read more about
the oldest Chinese Temple
in America  Here.

Though some Honolulu
temples might be older,
they were founded in the
Kingdom Of Hawaii,
NOT America. So I
concede the honorific
with respects
to each place:
My former longtime home
and my becoming
New One.
