How Sweet

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Honolulu Street Scene with Walker
Walkers are
'practitioners of the city'
for the city is made to be walked.
A city is a language, a repository of possibilities, and walking is the
act of speaking
that language, of selecting
from those possibilities.
Just as language limits
what can be said,
architecture limits
where one can walk.
But the walker invents
other ways to go.
Rebecca Solnit

Take some time
throughout the day
to stop and remember
what You love, what
You are really grateful for,
what You are
working towards,
what You believe in.

When you were young,
trying to find your way in life,
was there a book, a routine,
devotional practice, or daily positive
that really improved your life?
You felt renewed, and promised
yourself that you'd never
forget this source,
this treasure!

Today I invite you
to revisit the books, ideas, and
practices that meant so much
to you on the early days
of your journey. Then
once the well is cleared,
the water is sweet again.
We merely forgot
how sweet it really is!

I remember years ago a college built a new campus and didn't put any sidewalks in. They waited for the students to leave paths in the grass and then put the sidewalks where the paths were.
