It always amazes me
to think
that every house
on every street
is full of so many stories;
so many triumphs
and tragedies,
and all we see
are yards and driveways.
Glenn CloseA moonlit hush
drapes the window,
silver threads weaving
through the quiet.
Our pillows bloom
like soft magnolias
As the night hums
in velvet tones.
Outside, the world
is a snow globe
shaken
by gentle dreams.
Inside, we nestle
two fireflies
glowing warm
against the chill.
Here, in our
small universe of
hush and heart,
we are safe.

Angry people want you
to see how powerful
they are.
Loving people want
you to see how
powerful you are.

yourself up is to try to
cheer somebody else up.
Mark Twain
Sweet, cheerful words,
coming from a kind heart,
are worth more
than gold and gems.

These are wonderful lines.
And huge thanks to Canada. Empathy should indeed have no borders.
That's good of Canada to set up the hotline, proving it is not the American people that are the problem.
ReplyDeleteThat quote about houses holding so many stories is truly profound. Your poem about the "moonlit hush" creates such a peaceful image. And the wisdom about loving people wanting you to see your own power is a beautiful thought. www.melodyjacob.com
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of the Moon. I have just come in from a moonlight walk, it's a special kind of light I think. Shows the world in a really different light - it's all shape and movement, and I am not distracted by colours.

Beautiful words, Amazing sky view. Mural looks great. Beautiful flowers. Cute Pixie :)
ReplyDeleteBoth Glenn Close's reflection and Cloudia Charters' poem remind us how much life quietly pulses behind every window, glowing softly in the stillness of night
ReplyDeleteLove your poems and quotes today!
ReplyDeleteThe moon photos and blooms are lovely.
Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week!

ReplyDeleteHave a great day and week way over yonder.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post. Love your poem, Cloudia. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI loved your nighttime photo and the poem...which-ever came first! And the women on the motor scooter in a split second of their enjoyment in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy reading these wise words and looking at Hawaii through your camera lens. Pixie is adorable! Thank you also for adding the hotline number, a lifeline that's open, does the heart good.
ReplyDeleteWhen I walk in neighborhoods I'm always looking at the yards and driveways. I will have to remember to expand my consciousness and think about the people who live there.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks like Ripple is sold in the grocery stores close to my house. I will have to check it out.
Lovely Post and Pixie
ReplyDeleteLove this post. You are right about power and people.
ReplyDeletePixie is so cute today. She looks like she is studying something. Great poem, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, thank you. Aloha!
ReplyDeleteLovely captures and captions!
ReplyDeleteI love the Glenn Close quote and the palm trees. Love your poem and the one by Twain, too. Hurray for Canada. They know it's tRump, not us doing the damage. I've not heard about Ripple, but it sounds delicious. And a great drink for T this Tuesday, too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlen Close is right. We don't realize that each house has a story and his-tory.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote by Chief Red Eagle.
Pixie looks so lovely. I have a street cat that looks just like her. I must try and take a picture of her to show you.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
I agree with Lisca about Glenn Close's quote. You always have the best quotes, and fun photos too. Say hi to Pixie, and I hope you are having a great T day.
