What You Never

A L O H A  From

H O N O L U L U

Elvis Presley’s ties to Hawaii run deep: he brought world wide attention to the islands with his films and music. His 1973 “Aloha from Hawaii” concert broadcast from Honolulu reached over a billion viewers, setting entertainment history.
In 1961 Elvis almost single-handedly reinvigorated a campaign to build the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. His electrifying benefit concert raised over $60,000 and ignited worldwide support, turning a dream into Hawaiʻi’s most visited historic site.

vibrant coral, pink,

Listen to your heart.
It knows all things,
because it came from
the Soul of the World
and it will one day
return there .

Firesilk light climbing
through bright blue of haze,
quicksilver arc expanding
across the morning blaze.

Woven color, a humid,
brief surprise,
A gasp of wonder
exploded in
our morning eyes.

The vapor fades,
chroma gone too soon,
A brilliant memory
lasts to afternoon!

  9. Thanks for a wonderful post. Pixie looks like she's enjoying the fire silk light of your poem. I learned something new about Elvis, too. Does Waikiki have Elvis impersonators like Vegas?
