Merrily Shall I Live

  A  L  O  H  A

From

Honolulu

Can words describe
the fragrance
of the very breath
of Spring?
Neltje Blanchan

Morning never forgets.
In any sort of weather
She knows just how to arise.
This man is already here
Wondering about the day.
The dog knows better
Running ahead
Circling back
Stitching the man
To her heart.
No commands break the air
Just soft negotiations
Between the waves and sand.
The dog returns
leans once
against his leg.
The sun lifts
with quiet ceremony.
For a moment
We are not lonely
Not waiting
Nor remembering.
Grateful bodies
Held briefly
In the rising light.
Cloudia Charters

Crinum is a genus of about 180 species of perennial plants that have large showy flowers on leafless stems, and develop from bulbs. They are found in seasonally moist areas, including marshes, swamps, depressions and along the sides of streams and lakes in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide.

Merrily, merrily shall I live now,
Under the blossom
that hangs on the bough.
 William Shakespeare

I enjoy the Spring more than the Autumn now. One does, I think, as one gets older. Virginia Woolf, Jacob's Room
