The Gulf fritillary or passion butterfly (Dione vanillae or Agraulis vanillae. the Gulf fritillary is an introduced, established butterfly there, not a native one. It likely arrived after passion vines were brought to the islands in the 1800s, since its caterpillars depend on passion vine host plants; by the late 1970s it had been recorded on Oahu and then spread to other islands.  Link
