YO, Vinny!
They're EVERYWHERE!
"You don't want your credibility banana to turn brown, but you do want to speak out about what you believe in."
Bradley Whitford
"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
Clever Bananas, the portable fruit!
I've tried everything to keep them fresh
when all the time they were ready to go:
simply separate them
and they know that it is time to be portable,
they keep fresh and go along.
Such a companionable fruit!
The bunch of five
like a vegetal hand
reaching out
across the species barrier
as if to shake hands
(That's what they're called:
a "Hand of Bananas"
at least that's what I call them.)
Yo, Yellow!
Time to come along on a little
walk-about.
Apple bananas, growing in da yard,
sweet and custard-y
not store-bought and hard!
So here's to a noble curved companion
No! not THAT one!
the lowly banana
whose "tree" is really a giant grass.
Tomorrow's post:
"I've got a loverly bunch a coconuts!"
A L O H A!
Summer-Addled Cloudia
separate them - is that the trick?!
ReplyDeleteThis, I believe, is the first ode to a banana I have ever had the pleasure to read. Odd little fruit that it is.
ReplyDeleteI love very weel the blue pistyure.
ReplyDeleteI like to eat bannas when the skin is between green and yellow. Sometimes I cook banana jam. Yummy ! ALOHA, Cloudia !
Bananas actually do keep longer in those new green wrapper bags...lots of other veggies and fruits and lettuce, too.
ReplyDeleteCamp Fire Girl Bananas:
Keep peeling on and Cut off both ends, slice lengthwise, but not through the bottom peel.
Place on a foil square.
Pry open lengthwise and push little marshmallows and M&Ms into the banana's slit.
Wrap the foil around it.
Place on the bar-b-que coals for about 5 minutes.
Spoon out warm, sweet chunks of banana!
I was a Camp Fire Girl before I was a DrumMajor...
wonderful tribute to the humble banana!
ReplyDeleteI like this ode to our yellow friend that comes with its own handle and dish and container. Bananas are also easily shared, let's not forget. Fun post.
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard-like water.
Ah yes, the wonderful sweet little banana. They never last long enough around my grandson to go bad. Love that first picture.
ReplyDelete"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
ReplyDeleteConfucius This is my favourite!
Bananas is the only fruit one can go.. He goes bananas
I love this post ... I love bananas ... aloha! xo

ReplyDeleteConfucius
We have a lot of the second going on. I don't like it either, but being easy it's often the first choice.
Have a terrific day. :)
Gooo Bananas!! That used to be our swim team cheer. Love the post, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to make banana bread!
ReplyDeleteI never realized bananas were such good metaphors.
ReplyDeleteI adore bananas! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite fruit Cloudia - I have one for breakfast every day and if I can't get them when I am on holiday, I suffer from withdrawal cymptoms.
ReplyDeleteYes, Med Kiwi! Simply separate them and they stay fresh!
ReplyDeleteWhat a loverly bunch of comments!
ReplyDeleteGo swim team!
Yay recipe!
I never met a meta metaphore I couldn't bring home to my keyboard ;-)
Such a clever bunch, you dears!
You folks are sweet - but never mushy...
If I don't buy bananas, everyone complains. If I do, they go bad. Same thing with watermelon. Some law of nature.
ReplyDeleteVinny, LOL!

Banana credibility? Who knew. I like to think that the bananas would want to stick together for as long as possible. I'm worrying about the personal lives of bananas, I am co-dependent, God help me.
ReplyDeleteWhat about those thingys that you hang them from, the ones that look like vertical incense holders...?
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteWho knew that bananas had such a huge fan base; maybe I should launch "Banana Thursdays."
Yes, we must bite the co-dependent bullet and separate our bananas....they'll thank us for it...Those hanging thingies for the bunch? Store it with your buggy whips and fondue pot ;-)
I love the Bill Gates quote!
ReplyDeleteBananas have such a-peel! What's not to love? When they start to over-ripen, peel them, put them in an air-tight bag and freeze them. When you're looking for a fruity blender drink, take them out and add them to a blender full of fruit juice, rum and other fruits. You'll love it. :)
ReplyDeleteFinally, the banana is elevated to a place in which it shines.
ReplyDeleteAh now, I have three rather brown ones in my fruit bowl on the kitchen counter. I see a banana nut bread in their future. Love my bananas!!!! Can't wait for your coconut post :)
ReplyDeletecool! I love bananas and what a great photo of the water on the leaf!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteLove these comments!
