Driving under Hawaii winter skies

“There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky;

there is one spectacle grander than the sky,
that is the interior of the soul”

Victor Hugo

Santa is wintering in Hawaii!

Did you ever wonder why the tool is called a "monkey wrench?"
It was invented by Charles Moncky

The word "toy" comes from the Olde English for "tool."

Is a blog a tool or a toy?

><>

The Pew Internet & American Life Project
estimates that one in ten on-line adults has a blog;
That's 30 million blogging adults.

Glad we found each other!

><>

My blog is a kite
I send up every day.
Your daily dose of Hawaii
Through my eyes.

Some blogs are fighting kites
Cutting the strings
Of their opponents'
Arguments.

But Comfort Spiral
is a message in a bottle:
"Like minded people
Come out and play."

And like miracles
Or migrating butterflies
You come to display your colors!

The Sky is full of kites
Each one is different
Yes,
Another wondrous day . . .

A L O H A,
cloudia

  14. there might be millions on millions of blogs, but most are defunct. They're not like your's for example. Instead, infrequent postings. Many have migrated to Twitter or iPhone pic blogging.

Thank you very much for the memories.
Being about 3,000 miles far from home, this message in a bottle was more than welcomed.

  24. Lovely post. (I'm not so convinced about the Monkey Wrench though. It's been around since at least the early C19th as a coach wrench. Might it not have come from the latin 'mancus' for 'incomplete', because of its dislocated form?)

  25. Oh that was so sweet!

I agree about the fighting-kite analogy. I blog to practice writing, to meet others "of my kind" :-) and to make people laugh.

    Glad you are like-minded!!

    Aloha!

  30. I didn't know that about the word "toy"! How fun, one of the first things I did today was learn something new, which is always a welcome thing.

You've got a good, playful spirit about where you live, Cloudia. The picture of the Santa suit at the dry cleaners made me laugh. Do you remember the Sesame Street "One of these things is not like the other..." bit they used to do? That photo put me in mind of that.

Congratulations of the post of the week mention over at Hilary's, this was a really fun one, and a welcome visual, and mental treat for a cold day over here on the mainland.
