ALOHA means:
'Welcome! Glad to See YOU!'
'Welcome! Glad to See YOU!'
"Until you make peace with who you are,
you'll never be content with what you have."
Doris Mortman

"A good traveler has no fixed plans
and is not intent upon arriving.
A good artist lets his intuition lead him
wherever it wants."
- Lao-Tzu
“How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol?
How about the pillow?
It has more feathers than the dove,
and it doesn't have that dangerous beak”
Jack Handy

Recent research shows
that we soon grow accustomed
to new pleasures:
that new car,
the beach house that was so hard to get.
Investigators advised leaving that beach house
from time to time
so one might have their pleasure freshened.
I know that all it takes
is a ten day off-island trip
for the romance to be re-ignited.
Scene: Airplane cabin, return trip, approaching Diamond Head.
Characters: Me and a nice lady.
Action: I am softly crying.
Nice Lady (sympathetically): "Returning home?"
Me. "Yes" (blubber)
N.Lady: "How long have you been away?"
Me: "tttTEN Days!"
and...scene.
*Applause*
It's official: I've lost it!
But, you know, walking outside on deck this morning
the skies were eloquent, fish were swimming around,
and we're still floating.
"Gotta remember to really enjoy all this," I told myself
sternly...except that I was standing in the bow at the time :)
Our friend Ted Trimmer has been too busy studying photography
to share many new photos with us here.
The other day we were discussing English landscape painters and their genius with light.
"Yes, they specialized in doing the most with their limited, northern English light," Says Ted.
Brilliant! Thanks, Ted for teaching me something new.
And thank YOU for visiting! cloudia

Yes, I miss Ted's photos on my blog, also!!! I don't see how classes can improve his camera skills. They were awesome to begin with!
ReplyDeleteAloha to rediscovering your little spot in Paradise!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of the Islands, and knowing the heartfelt care from the People, is what makes Hawaii so special.
Doves are birds of peace because they "coo" instead of screaming like the Turkey! How'd you get those Doves to pose for you?
My Kansas hibiscus are blooming alot! Biggest one was 10 1/2 wide! I'm trying to catch them when they bloom open...it's not 3 a.m. nor 5 a.m.
DrumMajor
you are special

I think the pillow as a symbol of peace is brilliant. Who doesn't want to snuggle into a nice sleep? Even nations without pillows could grasp the ideology behind the symbol and we could all live in harmony with each other because we all smile a sweet little smile (even ex-vice presidents) at the thought of a little nap and surely we would wish the same for all human beings and put all our supposed problems aside.
ReplyDeletePeace, baby.
The D. Mortman quote is just amazing. And yes, I can understand the feeling of returning home so very much. Please have you all a great Friday.

ReplyDeleteA wonderful header sky shot. I like the trailing cloud above the boats, too. Your quote about 'a good traveler' reminds me of a conversation I had yesterday with Elizabeth, the end of which I think she would agree!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for coming!
