Do not be discouraged
if you fail a few times."

ReplyDeleteThis post is a classic!!
ReplyDelete"She hung around with a guy named Smokey--
ReplyDeleteShe loved him although he was cokey;
He took her down to Chinatown,
And he showed her how to kick the gong around."
Man, I love those old pre-code cartoons and movies. A very short time after this was made, they never would have been able to use Calloway's lyrics. I notice that the second short says they made cartoons until 1934...I wonder if the decency code did them in?
I'm partial to the old Felix the Cat cartoons, too, before he got all sanitized and boring.
So cool that you posted these! Btw, I wonder why Betty Boop remains so famous today, while Bimbo is kind of forgotten. At least, I didn't know about him until you told me.
Heh Heh. Thanks for watching with me :)
ReplyDeleteAloha!
ReplyDeleteA fun, whimsical post. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat the classic black and white cartoons and the jazz swing of Cab Calloway. Very funny man Rodney Dangerfield.

ReplyDeleteThat was good to hear again been awhile and see one of the best kind of animation, like Fireblossom said pre morality and decency tribunals.
LOVELY ! Aloha Cloudia from rainy London !!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with H. Keller's quote.

ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for the memories of Saturday morning cartoons.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the moon-walk at the beginning as well as in the cartoon section. Wonder if that is where it originated? Thanks for the quote from Helen Keller.
