Wake Up

Aloha!
Thank YOU for Stopping By

Song O the day!

"All our reasoning
ends in surrender
to feeling."

Blaise Pascal

"Man's heart away from nature becomes hard."

Standing Bear

"Love is being stupid together."

Paul Valery

We don't honor our gentle souls.
"Speak up!" we tell them as children.

Assertiveness training
is available everywhere -
but where is the humility
that leads to listening,
and to the solutions
that we so badly need?

We no longer understand
the difference between
humility
and humiliation,
and so have marginalized
what we need most.

I have noticed that countries
like Brazil, China, India
take real pride
in the progress,
financial & social
that they are realizing.

Here in America
we are more interested
in making our point,
in victory,
in power.

We are more invested in
proving the other side
wrong
than in working
together.

All the while,
the "winners"
our self-appreciative "elite"
laugh & plunder.

Our social fabric
is in tatters
as we dislike each other
more than we love our
children.

Commonwealth
has all been privatized.
The wealthy
are fabulously so;
while those who go to work
every day
are played for fools.

How long
before we wake up?

When will the meek
inherit this
Earth?

leave us a 'shout'
in comments!

  1. Cloudia, I'm pondering your last question, "how long before we wake up?"
That is the QUESTION OF THE DAY!

  2. Some do.. some don't .. some will.. some won't.

  3. Well said Cloudia. We can only control our own 'waking up', so let's make sure we do it, model it, and foster it ...

  5. I wonder every day what new ugly thing our government can invent to wake up people and we start protesting?

  6. Life is meant for everyone to chip in and not wait for someone else to do it for you.

Lovely palm trees and blue skies. I'm ready for that now!

  7. There is a Chinese saying, every country, every family, every individual has its own problems...
As you may say good things in others, others may see good things only happening to you !
    Every nation, household.

  9. Just came in from shoulder high snow to discover your blog (through Out on the Prairie) and I must say a little vacation in Hawaii sure was inviting.

Your poetic writing is thought provoking and I enjoyed your point of view (which is not too distant from mine). Thanks for sharing these thoughts.

  11. In the US these days it does seem all about the "US" and about victory. Winning at all costs is not winning.

  12. I especially like your point about humility. You're a wise woman Claudia.

  13. I think that is a question people have been asking since the beginning of time, and will continue to ask into infinity. Aloha Cloudia :)

  14. We know the same in France. I do not when we'll wake up. Surely when it will be too late.
I have the plant "bird of paradise" but no flower, only leaves. Maybe a day...
Pretty song. I like the voice of the singer. It looks like the one of Kenny Rodgers.
    ALOHA, Cloudia !

  17. I vote for Cloudia!

I'm so sick of our American swagger- instead of Humble Pie Pride! When you are strong, and a leader-you don't HAVE TO TELL ANYONE! They just know it.

Our Country needs to return to God and our Strength through Compassion and Love!

Esp. for One another....it starts at Home first--either in a House with Family--or a Country with Family!!

    Great Great Post!!!

We were once a slumbering giant that did wake up- When EVIL poked us with a Stick. Pearl Harbor for example....-Now we are a becoming a Complacent Drug Induced Sleep Society that can't wake up!!

  18. We will wake up when there is pain of poverty among the vast majority of the people. until them just enough are staying above water to keep hushing the rest.
