Aloha Friends
Here's a gift, me to you.
I don't claim to be a Photographer,
just someone hooked on taking pictures.
Getting excited about something I see,
crouching low, or climbing on a bench,
capturing that shot of an animal or person
on-the-move,. . .
then sharing it with Y O U
has become a major part of my lifestyle.
I'm never without my camera,
so on a rare night-time jaunt
to Chinatown this weekend,
on a full moon night,
I caught lots of good - no -
GREAT shots
of the action downtown.
My best shots,
the ones I'm MOST excited about,
live in my camera
viewed on that little screen.
I cackle as I imagine
what they will look like on the computer screen:
big, and tweaked, and ready to share.
Wait till they (Y O U)
see THIS!
Well here's the tip:
If your camera tells you your SD card
or other media is malfunctioning in some way,
immediately download your treasures.
DON'T (like I did) assume it a camera issue,
remove the batteries for a "hard re-boot"
and go about your business until the
card
goes flooey
and eats your dear wonderful pictures!
*OUCH*
My shimmering crystal dragon
behind the bar of that place!
Full moon over historic buildings!
People shots! Graffiti!
Urban grit,
and beach & sky shots!
That cloud that looked
Like Trump's pompadour!
That cloud that looked
Like Trump's pompadour!
All GONE.
Bitter bitter LOSS!
Who knew an SD card could go bad?
But like your car: when it politely fore-warns
you listen.
Thus endeth the lesson.
But you know what they say:
"Don't cry over lost pictures."
*Sniff*
in the larger scheme of things
(The Tsunami Test)
it's an IRRITATING
sense of loss - but a small silly one
after all.
The more it 'hurts'
the more real karma is being burned.
Offer it for the souls in purgatory,
or for all sentient beings.
Grow compassion.
Wisdom. Patience.
Damn!
Life is full of ups and downs,
so let this be a 'down.'
I still have a home,
food,
and loved ones.
The body still works
YaY!
Just back up your digital stuff.
Shake it off, Cloudia!
What wonders will I notice and capture
TODAY?
Don't carry the loss into this day;
things will change, (they always do)
including moods.
New pictures will arise.
Please come back and share them.
Fondly, cloudia
That's why I carry TWO cameras! If one goes bad (battery or SIM card), I use the other one.
ReplyDeleteLets see everything I have written since 2002 is backed up on 3 hard drives and two 3gig memory sticks. If they all die at once then I figure my Karma was really pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your pictures though sista' and not being 'roun so much. Poetry season is coming into full swing.
*sniff*
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys
sorry for the loss - just incentive to go out on the town on the next full moon .....
ReplyDeletegood advice ... thanks!
thank YOU, Bonnie :)
ReplyDeleteThat root knot is really interesting. Lana likes those kind of photos too.
ReplyDeleteOkay Cloudia -- does this mean we need to learn how to send your pics BACK to you? They ARE preserved in this blog (needs to be a travel book -- you've heard this before...)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great tip. I didn't know. I can download my camera to the 'puter, and 'puter has a separate backup thingie.
I can smell the HUGE plumaria blossoms! (Some photos are in the original memory of our minds.)
DrumMajor
Oh no! I encounter many techno problems that it is a miracle for me to have all my pictures, or posts still available to me. Great advice, though.
ReplyDeleteUsually I do transmit pictures taken during the day at the same evening, at two different hard drives.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this lesson, as I'll get me a second card.
Wishing you only happy a sight from now on and a camera handy. Pleae have a good Wedneday you all.
And yes, taking pictures with the eyes only ... surely something i know as well.
Oh yes. Memories. My card festered and went bad in Antarctica. Swallowed more than I can remember without wincing. I has a spare, but ....
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I should have started my comment with something along the lines of aaaargh. Know exactly how you feel and my heart goes out to you. But my brain was not engaged and I didn't. But have now.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that! I always have my camera with me too. Love the one of the fish near the boat. My favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip and thanks for your visits.
I like the abstract find on the ground !
ReplyDeleteYour words are so true, Cloudia. I think the photos are always much better displayed on the internet than printed on the photo paper.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images!
I about freaked on a family beach trip once when my camera started blinking a message about being low on memory. I have a half gig SD card and thought it was going bad but after inspecting I found it gone and the twenty pictures I had already taken stored in camera memory which was now full.
ReplyDeleteTurns out my son had removed the SD card after taking pictures for his Facebook profile and never put it back.
As you might expect on that trip all sorts of great scenes caught my eye but to take anymore pictures I had to delete some, it was a real bummer.
What a disaster i suppose you can start again from scratch. Why not have you photos developed straight away then placed in an album. Every post i've written and published is saved the old fashioned way in writing on paper and placed in a large folder :-).
ReplyDeleteNow, I have tow cameras. With one I shot the birds. With the other one I shot my flowers.
ReplyDeleteSometimes without we wanted, we do some very good photos, sometimes, not.
A day I wanted to load my photos from camera to computer and I have immediately cancel the photos from ma camera but the loading was not done.
ALOHA, Cloudia !
What??? SD cards can go bad? Thanks for the warning, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteYou may not be a photographer but you sure get some great shots m'dear. x
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for the name of that white flower in English. Google search is helpless. Do you know the name of it?
ReplyDeleteVery Wise WORDS! ...so nicely put! ..and thinking forward to all those NEW and awaiting photos for you to capture!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more frustrating than accidentally deleting a photograph.
ReplyDeleteWith one fateful click I have lost a few.Real nice what you shared.
ReplyDeleteThose white-ish flowers are PLUMERIA.
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much for consoling me!
Really appreciate YOU :-)
How wonderful....Lei Day is MY birthday.....I knew I had a special connection to your wonderful state!!! I was in 6th grade when Hawaii became a state...we had a school program and I wanted to represent Hawaii...at that young age I was fascinated and it still remains!
ReplyDeleteOh! Some lessons are harder than others! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is with you over and over again.
ReplyDeleteAlso back-up pics on your hard drive-- My daughter didn't- it died, n so did the little ones baby pics! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteBetter luck with the new card
