What a gift it is
to walk unmolested.
To be anonymous
among others
in the busyness
of life.
To pass
through the streets,
the meadows
that know one
well.
Before he ran for president
Barack Obama
walked alone in Waikiki,
my mother noticed him
but no one else did
yet.
We lament our powerlessness
but in this
we have
what is denied
to kings:
a simple walk down the street
free of notice
free of strings.
Enjoy it! cloudia
Seeing new among the old ... the joy of discovery is enormous
ReplyDeleteDiscover the familiar,I would say !
ReplyDeleteSo true. I don't guess we appreciate that kind of anonymity enough.

ReplyDeleteI knew it! Did Art contact you and hint that I should be keeping up my exercise and walking? He's not watching me so I'm sitting here at my computer... contemplating that piece of chocolate....

JOLLY!!!! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI share your joy of anonymity. I ruminated on this quite often. Imagine a life where one has no privacy. Every thing you wear, say and do, including a need for a private stroll, is recorded and poached by the world. I can't imagine being the Royals (Kate & Will).
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Cloudia !
ReplyDeleteRegards from France,
Pierre
So many are putting your President Obama down. I knew he faced a long walk alone. The spam sent around, accusing him of all sorts of things, is terrible. Canadians adore him.
ReplyDeleteLovely to visit your island and feel the holiday healing from our campervanning hols in Yorkshire, England. Every Blessing

"To find new things,
ReplyDeletetake the path you took yesterday."
this is so true, every time we pass through, we see something new, something more. There's always more to uncover.
And anonimity - sometimes it's a beautiful think.
