Fri- D A Y !

Aloha Friend!

" 'Alo' means the bosom,
the center of the universe.
'Ha' is the breath of GOD.
The word ALOHA
is imbued with a great deal of power.

I do not use the word casually.
Aloha is a feeling,
a recognition of the Divine.
It is no just a word
or greeting.

When you say 'Aloha' to someone
you are conveying or bestowing
this feeling.

In the Hawaii of my childhood,
this feeling bonded the entire community."

  4. Oh this is funny that you post the rainbow, which will be here soon hopefully and the wild clouds as I have taken cover in our local library so I can use the internet while the storm rages outside. Yes, it's Friday! Hooray! Tomorrow is a big day for me ....as my little (youngest) son gets married! Thanks for the bright and sunny flowers here....it's so gloomy outside !

  6. I really liked this post today because Aloha is so often overused these days. Your explanation is terrific. I was glad to see your updated post at the top just now. Is Nana Veary related to Emma Veary?

  8. How beautiful the depth of meaning of the greeting of Aloha. Like the Hindi greeting Nameste, which I imagine you know. Thank you for posting this. Another important example of how we take words for granted.

    Aloha to you, dear Cloudia

While the small town I grew up in had its faults it was a place where passing strangers waved and said "hello" to each other on a regular basis. When I left home I was literally shocked to have people I did not know give me strange looks when I said hello to them we walked pass each other.
