" Dogs are not the Uncle Toms
of the animal world. . .
They're the dignified dual citizens
who plead the case
for all mute creation
with their human owners. "

but they keep their own counsel
and their own identity,
even in the house,
and let us spy,
occasionally,
on what it's like
out there."

and all creatures
are my family.
They're like you and me. "

Glad that Hurricane Irene
has passed the East Coast!
Having ridden out Iniki
here on our boat
(the week we moved aboard)
we know the anxiety,
the uncertainty,
the curtains of rain
and the wind's
H O W L
that I'll never forget.
Glad Manhattan
remains a playground
for our friend Daryl !
Hope you ALL
recover,
and enjoy YOUR
DAY!
Love the cat & dog quotes!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU, Elizabeth :)
ReplyDeleteNice article and what a coincidence, I just publishedvsome pictures of our own dogs.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
...clap, clap....CLAP...doggies do plead their case well! ....and kitty cats right along next to them! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know about passing storms but this old dog is just passing through to say aloha!
ReplyDeleteLove it. Thanks. The fish was great too - though I am a huge sucker for the four legged furry fiends.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the picture of the bird on the statue.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your good thoughts! Your post is beautiful. It was a hoot to watch the media try to mediate the social media to get the word out that: rain was falling in the wind.
ReplyDeleteHow did we cope with the obvious before the social media?
With the disappearance and apparent death of our last cat, we are now a no-pet family. Whew! Easier to travel now!
ReplyDeleteI love the way that dog is looking at the camera.Prayers and good thoughts for those effected by Irene.
ReplyDeletethanks Friends!
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures!

All creatures deserve love and respect.
ReplyDeleteHow else are we going to live all together on this planet.
It's time mankind gave up killing and maiming and destroying. Fat chance.
Love dogs, love cats, love all creatures and love your post Cloudia!!
ReplyDeleteSweet marriage of quotes and pics Cloudia! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for the link .. yes, we survived the storm thanks to a lot of pre-planning for emergencies and pre-planned evacuations . there's a lot of flooding in lower Manhattan but uptown on the Westside where we live, thankfully, it was just some downed tree branches and minor flooding in Riverside Park ..
ReplyDeleteLove dogs and cats - great quotes, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteNice photos and quotes, as always Cloudia! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLovely quotes Cloudia. x
ReplyDeleteGet thee to the dogs is a not a curse but an honor.

ReplyDeleteGreat quotes and enjoyed my visit today.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to extend my love for all creatures to coqui frogs and rats.
ReplyDeleteSo you were in a boat during Iniki? Wow.
Beautiful post, Cloudia!

ReplyDeleteDogs especially..... they seem so wise. But animal companions are all special.
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad you survived the storm.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is very nice.

I just love your blog. You have the most inspirational quotes and sayings. You are so on target with the cat analysis. Here's one: Dogs have families. Cat's have servants. LMAO!!! How true, how true. Cheers Cloudia!!
ReplyDeleteLove the dog.
