January 17, 1891

17 January 1891
The Legitimate Government
of these Hawaiian Islands
was overthrown.

The People Remember,

The `Aina, the Heavens,
the Sea,
and the Moku
all remember.

Hawaiian Sovereignty
Un-relinquished
in our hearts,
our hopes,
our young.

  2. I adore how you honour the founders of your adopted land. We have had such a terrible past of invading and colonializing.

  5. A sad story that could have been better if the dudes in DC had a conscious. What year is that stamp?; statehood? I'm honored the Hawaiians allow visitors to their special state after we stole it! DrumMajor

  8. Thank you for this, Cloudia. Some in our family are Native Hawaiian and anyone who feels a connection to the islands can't help but remember this sad chapter.
