Being a film snob
I rarely see
spectaculars;
But an old pal
wanted to see
G R A V I T Y
in 3D.
My friend is a
visual artist,
so his response
would be interesting
even if the film
struck me as
an empty magic trick.
Grumpy me
didn't want to
wear the 3-D glasses
over my eye glasses.
but they were light
and comfortable.
Previews
were of upcoming
3D films.
When the Hobbit's forrest
exploded around me,
snow falling,
everything wondrously
yet subtly
three dimensional,
let's just say that
I was hooked,
even before one of the
birds flew past me.
I settled in for
technological thrill
of the species
"Planetarius"
and from the first scene
WAS thrilled
by the visual and moral
wonder of
leaving our insular
little Earth.
The acting
was superb.
This was more than
a visual display.
A Thrill-a-second
true heroes adventure!
I won't spoil it.
If you are a prig like me,
drop your reserve
and go see this film.
What tale
(film, TV, Book, myth, project, or poet)
is thrilling YOU
at the moment?
Do share in comments.
fondly, cloudia
Yes, "Gravity" was REALLY a good flick. Must be seen on theatre's big screen. Amazing how two separate heads in helmets might win Oscars. I saw the non-3D version, as 3-Ds have made me queeeezy. Footsies in the sand is definitely safer!

Today's photogrphs are beautiful, like others you have put up. The calico cat is such a charmer!
ReplyDeleteYes we plan on seeing it as I rarely miss a movie that Sandy is in! My daughter warned it is a little sad but a happy ending so I guess I can see it! I'm reading about things related to this bewitching month!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah poets that we are I have mine together except linking the music! Will post (I promise tonight)!

ReplyDeleteLove Gravity! Easily my No.1 movie of 2013! Despite some scientific flaws, which is OK to me since it's pure entertainment, the story, special effects and acting are all top notch! : )
ReplyDeleteI am not a movie fan. Books all the way. That movie does sound tempting though...

Aloha!
Love the Henry Moore quote. So very true!
ReplyDeleteI want to see Gravity, but everyone is unwell here (flu bug going round). Good to know about the 3D glasses not being a hindrance to those (like me) who wear specs. :)
I was also recently thrilled by Gravity! (And your first photo is also a thriller:)
ReplyDeletesure is. To be able to enjoy the landscape is a gift too
