I wish you could hear
the birds, waterfowl,
gently lapping waters,
and the breezes.
Yes, the Obama family
is vacationing in Kailua.
If you paddle down this marsh
toward the beach,
you will meet Navy seals
before you get to see the Coast Guard cutter
and the other armed vessels lurking
out of sight near the First Family's
beach-front resting place.
The Obamas RENT the property.
There is no family compound.
Barack grew up in rental and
UH faculty housing.
During High School years,
he lived in a modest apartment
(walking distance from here)
with his grandmother "Toot"
and WWII vet grandfather,
Stanley.

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful isle; it must be a constant wonder to live there!
ReplyDeleteYour visits compete with sights like these as my best blessings of the day!! Thanks
ReplyDeleteIt is human nature to become accustomed to our surroundings. There are unhappy people here, BUT I MUST say that the weather and surroundings often DO wake me up to wonder and gratitude. We pay certain prices to live on an island so far away from EVERYTHING, but we chose those "costs" and continue to happily pay our "Sunshine Tax."
What gorgeous pictures! Thanks for sharing some of the inside story with us mainlanders.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you pulled out the greens in the second image especially.
ReplyDeleteAh...dear Cloudia...such breathtaking beauty. I was only there once, back in '92 and would love to come back. Bless the President and his family, and I hope they enjoy their respite.
