New Year Lions Backstage 你好

A  L  O  H  A - Nihau - 你好

We see and taste,
and live China's culture
all over Honolulu,
all through Hawaii.

 Chinese New Year
is a special time of year to me.

We Hear it,
See it, Taste it,
and
SMELL it!

End of a Long Day - Heads OFF!
 Not ALL
of the lion dancers are teens,
OR Chinese.

 "Secret Alley"
Chinese Cultural Center, Chinatown Honolulu

Lions in ones and twos,
retreated behind a closed door
while I took the shot
above this one
(and some in our party
drank some "Alley Beers")
I snuck the door open a
crack and found
the secret Lion Store Room!

The Year of the Wood Horse
starts Jan 31st.

Honolulu is just
getting started

GUNG HEE FAT CHOY!

Wishing YOU
the best year yet!

  5. Awesome photos, Cloudia. We have a huge Chinese community in Ontario and I love going to Toronto's China Town. I can't believe that January is almost over. And now I have to find out what a wood horse year means for an earth pig (me). :)
