You and I care;
We are not sociopaths.
When we see others
in pain
we feel pain too.
Heartbreak, we know,
causes brain activity
identical to physical
pain.
People, and animals
even die of a broken
heart.
Today our world
is hyper-linked.
And thanks for that,
or I would not
even know
Y O U.
But it also means
that we are exposed
to war, violence,
intransigence,
ignorance,
intolerance and greed
24/7 with
each breaking news
story.
We must be aware,
we must vote
and share
our truth.
BUT NOT
All Day / Every Day.
The first meal
of the day
is called
"Break Fast."
Digestion is best
when given regular
rest.
Your heart,
brain,
and soul
too.
After leaving Your
"Hello" in comments,
visit another online
friend, play with
you family.
Just rest
from news
for awhile.
Whatever is good,
or beautiful
or true-
feast on THAT.
After all:
We ARE what
we eat!
I love you,
cloudia
Great advice, Cloudia! Sometimes the news makes me feel pessimistic.
ReplyDeletegood advice.
ReplyDeleteloved the shadow shot.
Aloha Cloudia, I do like that "Break Fast" like music of the waves! I'm grooving with monsters that have big hearts, blue fur and a mouth full of COOKIES!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. You always have such great advice and along with them soothing photos and quotes. Coming hear is my Break Fast any time of the day :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving such sweet comments on Father-in-law's D-Day trip to Normandy. He is going to love reading them.
That shadow is amazing. It's like some other creature entirely!

I love the tiny people on the bridge. News fasts sound good! I like the good old days when the evening news was limited to just an hour...
ReplyDeleteSo glad you folks liked that girl's shadow with a life of its own.
ReplyDeleteThanks, dears
Empathy can be a kind of curse.
ReplyDeleteI love the shadow picture too. And your advice is invaluable. The news tends to make me nervous and to focus on fear.
ReplyDeleteThanks for spreading your thoughts and images!
ReplyDeleteI am in Norway now and planning to enjoy this , probably last time that I visit this great country!

Sometimes (often) the news makes me despair. And then I see, find, absorb some beauty and some magic - which eases the pain.
ReplyDeleteNice quotes. Thanks for sharing. Kisses from Italy.
ReplyDeleteErika
This is exactly what I needed to see today. It's perfect. Thanks, girl.
ReplyDeletewonderful!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading on the US Civil War and all the destruction to Southern civilians (mostly women and children) and the burning of their houses, destroying their crops and killing their animals – that was 150 years ago. Unfortunately we are still at it somewhere in the world – don’t think it will change in my lifetime. You are right – get up with a nice strong cup of coffee and a yummy croissant, look out at the birds and the sun, and life is still worth living.

You've read my current post, those fictional creature have given me nightmares. Mainly because the way they were created makes them so difficult to defeat.
Beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteIt can be too overwhelming at times to watch the news.
It is good to take a news fast. Sometimes it is just so hopeless and gruesome.
ReplyDeletecheers from the north
Lovely sentiments :-)
