Tropicbird
" To stand at the edge of the sea,
to sense the ebb and flow
of the tides,
to feel
the breath of a mist
moving over a great salt marsh,
Booby
" - to watch the flight of shore birds
that have swept up
and down the surf lines
for untold thousands of year,
Red Crested Cardinal
" -is to have knowledge
of things that are
as nearly eternal
as any earthly life can be.
Rachel Carson

ReplyDeleteRachel Carson was such a wise woman! The Booby is an interesting bird, for sure!

ReplyDeleteRachel knew. And he name has been dragged through the muck for her wisdom. But here we are recognizing it and feeling the peace that comes with knowing it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these beautiful images.
When I was a kid in Midway, we called that first one a Bosun Bird. Loved seeing these exotics again!
