Wild Oahu Bird Wednesday

A  L  O  H  A !
Tropicbird

" To stand at the edge of the sea,
to sense the ebb and flow
of the tides,
to feel
the breath of a mist
moving over a great salt marsh,

Booby

" - to watch the flight of shore birds
that have swept up
 and down the surf lines
 for untold thousands of year,

Red Crested Cardinal

" -is to have knowledge
 of things that are
as nearly eternal
as any earthly life can be.
                                                     Rachel Carson

Thanks to Carroll Cox for the Sea Bird Photos

  2. Just gorgous. And free as they should be. To ride the air and delight observers.

  4. I love the picture of the booby. I've read about them many times, but this was the first time I'd ever seen a good picture of one. I love the powder blue beak/bill.

  14. Rachel knew. And he name has been dragged through the muck for her wisdom. But here we are recognizing it and feeling the peace that comes with knowing it.

    Thanks for these beautiful images.
