I Got A Name

A L O H A !

I Got a Name by Jim Croce on Grooveshark

"I Got A Name"
Released on December 1, 1973
" Like the pine trees lining the winding road
I got a name, I got a name
Like the singing bird and the croaking toad
I got a name, I got a name
And I carry it with me like my daddy did
But I'm living the dream that he kept hid

Moving me down the highway
Rolling me down the highway
Moving ahead so life won't pass me by

Like the north wind whistling down the sky
I've got a song, I've got a song
Like the whippoorwill and the baby's cry
I've got a song, I've got a song
And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
If it gets me nowhere, I go there proud

And I'm gonna go there free

Like the fool I am and I'll always be
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
They can change their minds
but they can't change me
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
Well, I know I can share it
if you want me to
If you're going my way,
I'll go with you- "

That song was so meaningful to me
when it came out. A real boost.

Just like:
I Will Survive, Gloria Gaynor
a few years later

released in October 1978

Do YOU have a song

that was an anthem for YOU?

Rolling me down the highway
Moving ahead
so life won't pass me by"

  6. I was a big Led Zeppelin fan when I was a kid, Cloudia. Used to have a Jimmy Page poster on my wall.

    Great seeing your reflection!

  8. Oh my gosh yes, lots like in the Summertime that just set me free, but also songs like Sitting By the Dock of the Bay, just for the love of being close to water. So many, and they all still rock my world today.

  9. Loved the words in that song. In those early years years mine was probably in Spanish.

  10. U2 does that for me, something like Walk On or I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Very dramatic skies!
