June 11, 1877, Kapiolani Park was
dedicated as the first public park in Hawaii.
The park boasts of open green space,
ponds, the Honolulu Zoo, sports
facilities, and the Waikiki Shell.
Diamond Head presides
over the park.
The Hawaiians of old
named the crater:

Popular for sports, picnics,
and family events,
the park is also a
favorite place for photographs.
