What Day Is It? What Year?!
A rut is
just a groove
you don't
want to be in.
Some people are back to work - or never stopped
" He that respects himself
is safe from others;
he wears a coat of mail
that none can pierce. "
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
But not everybody is working. For some
there is time to walk on the beach.
" Taking time to do
nothing
often brings
everything
into perspective. "
Doe Zantamata

Holidays are disorienting.
That is a big part of
their purpose.
They break boring routine,
then make us long for
our routines again.
Holiday Magic!
We dance through the year,
'Same Same ~ New New"
The rhythm changes.
Sometimes the song does-
then we must dance
to a different tune.
But keep dancing!
Just keep dancing,
As long as you can
hear the music-
Fondly, cloudia
Adventurous window cleaning.

I wonder if your pretty bird wants some company? I could just go for a walk on the beach, sigh!
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy the walk on the beach with the gulls. Beautiful photos and great quotes, Cloudia! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLet there always be music! That idea that a rut is a groove you don"t want to be in a profound. It'd good to alter perceptions like change is good.
ReplyDeleteI like the Doe Zantamata quote
ReplyDeleteYou've had a tad too much to drink if you can hula and mummer at the same time...

HW Longfellow was born in my 'city by the sea', AND I do so hope my driveway isn't too rutted in the AM. Getting 4-8 inches of whiteness.
ReplyDeleteadorable beach walker following the tracks! :)
ReplyDeleteCool post... I have danced my way back to San Diego. School starts on Monday, but the change in routine was wonderful. Dancing in holiday rituals produces a collective sense of effervescence, according to Emile Durkheim. But I think you enjoy effervescence every day ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Effervescent ones! 🌴♥
ReplyDeleteThe bird's walking around like he owns the joint, I see!
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to get back in routine pretty soon, shrug back into the harness.
ReplyDeleteIf holidays are meant to disorientate.. it's working :) Did you hang out of the window to take the shot of the window cleaner Cloudia.. are you mad :)
ReplyDeleteI did remember to go to dancing. I really needed it to work off some calories. The days get mixed up at this time of year for sure.
ReplyDeleteLove your quotes and your photos! Everyone wants to be "in the groove" and nobody wants to be "in a rut." :-)
ReplyDeleteWalking on the beach would be out of the rut but cold here and it is snowing! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeagull says, "Into the groovy, everybody!"
ReplyDelete~
Happy Holidays! Enjoy every second of the dance! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you can't hear the music, make some of your own and dance anyway.
ReplyDeleteOh my, he can have that job! For me finally the last little overnight munchkin has returned home and I'm putting away all the decorations today, still, yet! Hehehe. But hoping to hit the snowy slopes yet today for a Checkpoint Minnesota hunt! Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great perspective of the painter.
