Paddlers escape in the unison
of their breathing, pulling.
"Happiness is
never stopping
to think
if you are."
Palmer Sondreal
Some
lose themselves -
- in the sounds
& spaces
at the surf
Driving Alone is a Normal Retreat
" Language... has created the word
"loneliness" to express
the pain of being alone.
And it has created the word
"solitude"
to express the
glory of being alone. "
Paul Tillich
Up On The Roof
" When I come home feelin' tired and beat
I go up where the air is fresh and sweet
I get away from the hustling crowds
And all that rat race noise down in the street
Up on the roof -
- On the roof's the only place I know
Where you just have to wish to make it so "

ReplyDeleteThis is great and I love the lines in that song. You always start the day off with a smile, as do your sweet comments on my blog. Thank you my friend :)
ReplyDeleteha. to know you are happy, is to not to need to know you are happy...

Solitude and loneliness differences are within the individual's perceptions. Being in an extended meeting can be acutely lonely at times.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are excellent Cloudia.
Those were breath-taking photographs that illustrate being alone so well. Time to go up on the roof!
ReplyDeleteSolitude is so welcome at times, yet loneliness is just hard.. Such a fine line!
ReplyDeleteguessing that wasn't pixie-girl!
ReplyDeleteWhat a smorgasbord of enjoyment this morning! I love the pictures of the ocean and the last one of the sun! Great post!
ReplyDeleteAhhh...Tillich was spot on, as are your photos, bits of sunny peace in a grey world. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love solitude, perhaps a bit too much.
ReplyDeleteAloha Cloudia, thank you for the rays of happiness!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. So glad to see your warmth.
ReplyDeleteMy problem may be that I stop to think too much. When I'm busy I never wonder about being happy really. I just have to get the work done
ReplyDeleteNo, not my kitty on the rocks.
ReplyDeleteThe outrigger canoes are a Polynesian tradition. The great voyaging canoes Hokulea has a sail, and is on a worldwide journey! ♥
Always happy to share anything you offer.
ReplyDeleteI love Carole King! And that kitty, Cloudia!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a roof I could climb up to.
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is a stunner, Cloudia!
ReplyDeleteKitty looks much too adorable.
