Paddling Children

A  L  O  H  A !
Feel Better about that Provocative Title now?
" The whole is simpler
than the sum of its parts. "
                    Willard Gibbs

Some Hawaii kids
learn to co-operate
through paddling.
It is healthy for
mind & body.

The first Hawaiians
came to these islands
in great voyaging canoes.
So this is meaningful
too, as we honor our
host culture.

Ho'okahi ka 'ilau like ana.
 "Wield the paddles together."

Launching Place
" You must live
in the present,
launch yourself
on every wave,
find your eternity
in each moment. "
                 Henry David Thoreau

" Many hands make light work. "

The large heavy
wooden canoes,
with their
cross pieces
and the outrigger
called the "Ama"
are lovingly carried
to and from the water
by the crew

" Respect yourself
and others will
respect you. "

  9. I think my face turned 50 shades of gray before I saw the picture. Great post. I think it would be fun to learn to paddle an outrigger.
