" Most new things are not good,
and die an early death;
[ let's link this to Good Fences!]
but those which
push themselves forward
and by slow degrees
force themselves
on the attention of mankind
are the unconscious productions
of human wisdom,
and must have
honest consideration, and
must not be made
the subject of
unreasoning prejudice. "
Thomas Brackett Reed
I dig that!
How about
Y O U?
Thanks!

I understand this idea to mean that the real changes happen slowly and are hardly noticeable until they have been accepted by most people, and that fast changes usually disappear at a similar rate to how quickly they appeared. I need to think about that quote a bit. For sure fads come and go in a flash. But I'm not sure all happenings that appear to be fads at first end up being fads after all. Yep, I need to ponder about this idea. ;)
ReplyDeleteI do too! Yesterday's innovations or heresies can become tomorrow's commonplace. That's progress.
ReplyDeletethanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeletealohaaaaa!
That's why its not easy to stand the test of time.
ReplyDeleteThanks
What a darling little flowered cactus that is!
ReplyDeleteThe tiny flower of the cactus is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures of the cactus are stunning. And I do agree with your quote, although it kind of cuts away the heart of capitalism.
ReplyDeleteLovely post :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful how you have pulled this all together. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThat wee cactus flower is no flash in the pan!
ReplyDeleteLove the cactus fence. I think a lot of the positive changes have nothing to do with human wisdom - which is in short supply.
ReplyDeleteThe cacti stand out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI like a good cactus they have bite.
ReplyDeleteMerle.......
it's lovely, ms. cloudia. this just came thru to my feed reader. i'll link you in in case you can't. :)
ReplyDeleteI need a life vest to understand that quote - too deep, without the PFD, I will sink :)
ReplyDeleteThe Cacti are gorgeous - super photos, Cloudia!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Quite true about new things especially in terms of gadgets. Not as lasting as the old ones where they take time to make sure of the good quality
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lessons through the quotes.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics.
Beauty in the midst of greatness.
ReplyDeleteI dig it too Cloudia!
