THAT's Honolulu to most people

This little wood frame house,
surrounded by mid [20th] Century
walk-up apartments speaks to me
of a city growing.
19th Century Chinatown.
Modern towers 'photo bombing'
the shot
From the Japanese plantation carpenters
who built so many wood frame, local
style shacks, houses, temples,
. . . To the high rises going
up today, Honolulu
is a dynamic Pacific City.
I join all previous
residents going back
centuries in saying:
"You should have been
here 30 years ago;
It was so different,
so beautiful then!"
Thanks for Visiting!
Warmly, cloudia
Splendid looks and photos.
ReplyDeleteAloha, Cloudia! I am surprised they have room to build more hi-rises. I was there in 1981 and it looked crowded. Lovely photos, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing these. Thanks Cloudia!
ReplyDeleteLove the photobombs!
ReplyDeleteIt's still beautiful! Thanks, Cloudia! Have a nice, easy day.
ReplyDeleteAloha, lovely photobombing image Cloudia, your post speaks to me as well. It seems this take over/restructuring is happening a lot. My favorite quaint Minneapolis neighborhood, Linden Hills, is preparing for a large high rise building to tower over (against the wishes of the residents) smack in the center of it all. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteSuper rainbow picture.

High rises stealing everyone's view
ReplyDeleteThat fourth shot looks very much like a Perth street scene :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Friends!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could get tired of the view of Diamond Head.
ReplyDeleteIt is a truly beautiful place. I prefer the wooden structures, but that is personal taste. And an aversion to people 'en masse'. Beautiful then, differently beautiful now.
ReplyDeleteIt is the same everywhere, Cloudia!
ReplyDeleteGreat rainbow and I prefer the 19th Century Hawaiian architecture!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and post
ReplyDeleteGreetings from India
Aloha Cloudia! One day I hope to visit your beautiful state. We are only an ocean apart after all. Mostly I stopped by to say thank you for your recent comments. Wishing you well there in paradise.
ReplyDeleteChange is constant. Lovely captures!!
ReplyDeleteNamaste /\ from Mumbai
Aloha!!
Amazing look of the pictures...
ReplyDeleteI prefer the old ways of building. It had more character.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit.

I say that about my town, too. :-)
