Handling People

A  L  O  H  A !

"A person's a person,
 no matter how small."
                                     Dr. Seuss

"One of the most sincere
forms of respect is
actually listening to what
another has to say. "
                      Bryant H. McGill

"Never judge someone by
the way he looks or a book
by the way it's covered;
for inside those tattered pages,
there's a lot to be discovered. "
                              Stephen Cosgrove

Many many years ago I
learned and never have forgotten
a foolproof and effective
way to handle people:
'Treat Children Like Adults.
Treat Adults Like Children.'
Sounds a clever turn of phrase,
concealing much insight
into our Human  Nature.

Be present, frank,
never 'talking down'
and children will
surprise you.

Pleasantly greet adults.
Ask how their day is,
smile when you see them
making judicious
eye contact.
You awaken the
child in every adult
who is not above being
cared over and jolly
up a bit.
In  fact is hungry for it!

See the wise being
in every child.
And the need for
babying
in every adult.

You will go far.

You will be liked.

I'm Already Quite
Fond of YOU!

  3. I do like that line of thought. And bird watching has a nice way of making one feel calm.

  10. Hmm, a thought-provoking post. I always treated children as adults. However, I treat dogs like children. They don't seem to be offended by it.
