Hawaiian Snakes?

A L O H A From Honolulu!

It is often said that
before you die your
life passes before
your eyes. It is
in fact true.
It's called living. Terry Pratchett

Do these birds know that they
are perched on a huge snake?

Mabel Smyth Memorial Building,
C.W. Dickey architect, 1941
Art Deco Style
National Register of Historic Places

Mabel Leilani Smyth, was born
in Kona and attended Springfield
Hospital Training School for
nurses in Manchester,
Massachusetts. The first
Hawaiian to be trained
professionally as a nurse,
she graduated in 1915,
returning to Hawaii to work
She was Superintendent of
Territory of Hawaii
Public Nursing,
dying unexpectedly in 1937.
A fund public drive raised money
to create this building / memorial.

also in Honolulu's Capitol District

"The caduceus, a staff with two snakes coiled around it, is the official insignia of the United States Medical Corps, Navy Pharmacy Division, and the Public Health Service. The caduceus is also the magic wand carried by Hermes (the Romans knew him as Mercury),
the messenger of the gods."

Another Snake?!

The world only exists
in your eyes.
You can make it
as big or as small
as you want..
 F. Scott Fitzgerald

Safe?

Hawaii has only one indigenous snake,
a small Island Blind Snake resembling an earth worm.
Sea Snakes RARELY enter Hawaiian waters.

  1. That root snake seems to have been frozen by the ferocious gazes of the chicken and Pixie. You are safe from all but the earthworm snakes... Cool post today.

  2. Terry Pratchett is right. As long as you keep your distance from certain snakes. Reptilian and human.
