Look for the gift in
everything that happens.
When people are hurting,
we often tell them
how they should feel.
What usually helps more is
validating how they do feel.
Sharing our perspective is
less comforting than showing
we understand their perspective.
Emotions have to be recognized
before they can be regulated.

When we recall Christmas past,
we usually find that the
simplest things, not the great
occasions, give off the
greatest glow of happiness.

Loriini is a tribe of small to medium-sized arboreal parrots characterized by their specialized brush-tipped tongues for feeding on nectar of various blossoms and soft fruits, preferably berries.[1] The species form a monophyletic group within the parrot family Psittaculidae. The group consists of the lories and lorikeets

Forget about the aches and pains of aging, our Queen Pixie demands a belly rub!!
ReplyDelete"Your children need your presence more than your presents."
ReplyDeleteYes, but don't let them know that.
Pixie is begging for belly rub. Would love to her just that. Showing belly like that is a ultimate gesture of trust. Cats usually have 1 person only who gets to see this. Meow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog

is so true. I'm getting better at remembering when someone has a complaint for hurt they share.
Your quotations today were for therapeutic engagement, which I do at school every moment. All of the staff, and I, need constant reinforcement because it is very stressful. Thank you for the reinforcement. We just started almost a two week break today. Phew! That parrot with the brush-tipped tongue is a hoot. But I never knew Pixie was a fluffy cat! She needs her tummy rubbed now . . .
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Thanks for the music.
