Immensity To Dream In

A L O H A From Honolulu!

A garden to walk in
and immensity to dream in-
-what more could one ask?
A few flowers at your feet
and above the stars.

Look who showed up to my house!
They fly and feed up high, I've
never seen one close before.
They showed up on Oahu
in recent years:
Rose-ringed Parakeet (RRP) is a vibrant green bird native to the Indian subcontinent. RRP grow to around 16 inches in size, including their long tail feather, and have a 20-30 year lifespan. Both male and females have bright orange beaks, while males have a red and black neck ring. They can also be identified by their distinctive squawking call.

We tend to think the universe
is this huge thing out there.
Composed of far far distances
that we cannot comprehend.
But quietly our heart is
telling us that it's all
right here with us. Intimate.

To be overcome by
the fragrance of flowers is
a delectable form of defeat.
Beverly Nichols

If you feel lost, disappointed,
hesitant, or weak, return
to yourself, to who you are,
here and now and when you
get there, you will discover
yourself, like a lotus flower
in full bloom, even in a
muddy pond, beautiful
and strong.

  1. Great quotes and lovely pictures. Is Pixie extending a paw of friendship to the parakeet and the gecko, or is she getting ready to play "bat the critter"? Inquiring minds want to know...

  4. I'm sure it was pretty special to have the parakeet perch on your balcony.

  5. What did Pixie think of the parakeet?

  6. I can't imagine seeing that parakeet land on the balcony. I hope that Pixie got to see it.

  7. Great as always. Never thought it would happen but since a few years you can find a parakeet on your balcony in Amsterdam and some other big cities in the Netherlands. How they came here is a riddle but by now there are thousands of them and they apparently can survive our climate and especially our winters well.

  8. Very interesting!
We appreciate it. Each of these comments very much. When we stayed in California for a couple of years pixie saw ducks. They came right up to her screen for a parlay. So she has seen big birds before. Hope she'll see this one next time. Thanks friends. We love you

  10. Wonderful places you walk with lovely sights. I can almost remember the scent of plumeria from the one we walked in every day while on vacation. Intoxicating!

  11. The tern is lovely and I can only imagine your squeal of delight when the parakeet paid you a visit.

  12. Wonderful quotes and photos. I have never seen a parakeet in the wild, only in a cage and that seems very cruel.
