What a joy it is to feel the soft,
springy earth under my feet
once more, to follow grassy roads
that lead to ferny brooks where I
can bathe my fingers in a cataract
of rippling notes, or to clamber
over a stone wall into green
fields that tumble and roll
and climb in riotous gladness!

The coconut trees,
lithe and graceful,
crowd the beach like a minuet

adopting flippant poses.

We may not be their favorite,
but we are their blessing.
but we are their blessing.
I have a thing about angels.
I believe in them.
I feel like I have
a guardian angel.
I think everybody has one.

* Nuʻuanu Stream is a river in Honolulu, Hawaii running through Chinatown and the Arts District. The stream is an important part of the island's ecosystem, providing habitat for fish and wildlife, and supporting recreational activities like swimming and fishing. It flows out of Nuʻuanu Valley, one of the most historically significant neighborhoods in Hawaii, going back to ancient, pre-contact times, home to many legends, stories and historical events.
Pixie looks like she is intently watching the dance of the palm trees and wondering why it is nothing like the dance of the sugar plum fairy. She was hoping it might be a dance of the catnip fairy, but alas, it's the coconut fairy dropping coconut bombs while swaying in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteSo true. All of it. Every bit!
ReplyDeleteThat stream looks soooo inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love your quotes that seem to trigger introspection myself every time I read your post

ReplyDeleteLove the flower quote about kindness and truth, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteI like so much to first photograph. The chinese dog fung-zao or similar just like the similars in chineses old temples.
ReplyDeletePixie has her eye on that little lizard.
ReplyDeleteHello Cloudia and Pixie, thank you for the continued smiles!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and quotes too. Have a wonderful new week.
ReplyDeleteNuʻuanu Stream looks very lovely. Amazing that it's still in such good condition running through a huge metro area. I have never been in Honolulu, only in the other islands, and I know how stunning the natural areas can be. I usually try to find the undeveloped areas.

ReplyDeleteLove the light in Pixie's gorgeous eyes! Wonderful pictures and words. I know Iris will flip over the first one! Palm trees always make me feel happy (grew up in Florida). Happy T-day and hugz
ReplyDeleteSorry I am late visiting. Lightening took out the electricity last night in my neighborhood. The cats and I spent the night in sweltering heat and only the electricity from my portable OTT light.
ReplyDeleteI go crazy over palm trees, so these were fascinating a great photo. Love Pixie's gaze, too.
I love that Helen Keller quote and that stream that is so important to your island's ecosystem. Thanks for sharing it as your "drink" of choice for T this Tuesday, dear Cloudia.
Love the dance of the palm trees and the Helen Keller quote. Lovely post. Always makes me wish I were there again. Loved Hawaii! I was there three times before the Pandemic and so thankful I got to go. Thanks for sharing. Happy t day.
