A L O H A From Honolulu!
Allow yourself to trust joy
and embrace it.
You will find you dance
with everything.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Beyond the Chinese Cemetery
Down through the lush green valley
The sun paints the sky
Waikiki towers rise down there
Like distant tiny giants
clustered at the shore-
This mountain air is quiet and still
Wind and bird songs
A sense of peace.
Gaze upon the tranquil scene
A moment of serenity,
In the heart of Oahu.
Born under the Manchu-led
Qing empire,
final imperial dynasty in
Chinese history.
Lived in the last years of the
sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii,
experiencing the overthrow.
Citizen of the short-lived Republic.
Died in the (U.S.) Territory of Hawaii
just three years before US
Statehood for the Isles.
What stories he must have lived!
Be not inhospitable to strangers
lest they be angels in disguise.

In the cherry blossom's shade
there's no such thing
as a stranger.

Thank you. And Pixie. Always.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us on an outing to the Chinese cemetery and showing us the views. Pixie and the cat by the VW van mailbox both look like they are incognito angels.
ReplyDeleteI really like the first shot of a monk. Really peaceful
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love that cute mailbox and your Pixie.
The Orchid tree is beautiful.
Take care, have a great day and happy weekend.
...I have visited a number of beautiful Chinese cemeteries.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a Chinese cemetary, Cloudia. What a peaceful resting place.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and quotes and an intriguing story about the person who died. I love intriguing stories.
ReplyDeleteI was geocaching in a forgotten cemetery in rural Idaho years ago and come across the grave of a man who fought for the south in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and then later converted to Mormonism and pushed a cart from Missouri to Salt Lake City and then later walked to Idaho to homestead. Another person who lived a full life.
I would have liked to visit that cemetery. It gives such a peaceful vibe.
ReplyDeleteThe cat on the walkway is so black it almost looks like it's photo shopped in.
ReplyDeleteEmbrace joy! And dance! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteyes, the valley so green and beautiful.....
