A L O H A From Honolulu!
If your inner child is
still alive as an adult,
you won,
you kept your magic,
you didn't let the world kill it.
Anonymous
Not crone, or girl
Grown woman, pure and plain,
Yet here she carves on a skateboard
Tearing down the lane!
I watched her
as she really flew
This vibrant soul
With a different view.
Silvered hair and
laughter in her eyes,
She flies into sight
Quite a bold surprise!
A mother, maybe,
Or grandma who knows?
Her spirit's still young
And fresh as a rose.
She carves the streets
All elegance and ease,
Symphony of motion
Refreshing as a breeze.
Defying norms she's wild,
Timeless as a song.
Happily gay and free,
Confidently strong,
Riding her board
The perfect place,
Sanctuary of speed
Of sun, of grace.
Symbol of a life
Well-lived, we see,
A spirit bright forever
Ever wild and free.

ReplyDeleteLovely photos.
ReplyDeletePixie is bemused by your shot of the skateboarding Grandma! She would love to be free to prowl the streets and caterwaul at the moon.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is outstanding, and has a great message.
ReplyDeletePixie looks regal.
ReplyDeleteI thought the skateboarding gal was skating on the edge of a pond. 😄
ReplyDeleteThe niece and nephew always call Mom the fun aunt because she plays and does all the things adults won't usually do. She says she feels 35 stuck in an older woman's body. Age is how you feel, not a number.
