A Common Mundane Tragedy
A flip-flop woke proud,
Ready to dance
In the beach town crowd
But her strap came askance!
“Oh no!” cried the flip-flop
"This is no fun!"
I was feeling so Tip-Top
In the warm salty sun!
Yet with surf breezes
A thought came to play:
“Maybe fates sneezes
Shouldn't ruin my day.”

ReplyDeleteWe call them slippers in Hawaii, pronounced:
DeleteSleee-pahs
...flip flops always seemed to litter the landscape in Maui.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo with the glass is a real beauty with that light and composition. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLove the layers of colors in the first sky shot, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice if "we always comes before I"
Have a great day and a happy week ahead.
That cruise ship is sitting on a golden ocean beneath an alien sky!
ReplyDeleteThere should have been a margarita in the glass -- to go with the blown out flip flop!
ReplyDeleteLove that 1st shot so much, Cloudia. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCool post, first the Malcom X quote, and then flip flop poem by you!
ReplyDeleteI've never been able to wear flipflops. They drive me nuts.
ReplyDeleteI love your ode to the flip flop, Cloudia. Such a simple thing, yet you make it profound. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHi Pixie!
ReplyDeleteAnnnnnnd.....we call flip flops, "flippers" around here :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your flip flop poem, it made me smile.
ReplyDeleteFlip-flops are called thongs in Australia - which initially causes a bit of confusion to people like me!!

I absolutely adore that first photo and quote. And your Ode to a flip flop was masterful.
ReplyDeleteThat glass sitting on the rocks was stunning. What an amazing composition. Thanks for sharing these photos and quotes, as well as the glass for T this almost Tuesday, dear Cloudia.
Don't forget to join us for T, Cloudia.
DeleteBeautiful post, Great poem.

In our case, these are flip-flops.

ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day and week, Cloudia. Scritches to Pixie. ♥
It seems to me that we (in the mainland USA) called them thongs for a while, and then switched to calling them flip-flops. As far as I can find out, the rubber version with the v-shape strap was patented in 1957, so they’ve been out for a while. Nice verse.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
The layers in the first photo. 👍
ReplyDeleteI love that giant palm tree in your header and wow, another fabulous sky view. Happy a little late T day, and give Pixie a scratch for me.
ReplyDeleteGood composition with that last shot.
