Simple Refusal

Aloha From Honolulu!

Listen to your heart.
It knows all things,
because it came from
the Soul of the World
and it will one day
return there.
  Paulo Coelho

In quiet calm
We can find peace,
Alert, aware
We never cease
To hold the world
Within our care
By simple refusal
To despair.
 Cloudia Charters

Mourning Gecko (Lepidodactylus lugubris)

Phoenix

A heart filled with love is
like a phoenix that no cage
can imprison.
Rumi

Gratitude
for the present moment and
the fullness of life now
is the true prosperity.
   Eckhart Tolle

Hiding Ducky

In the bushes,
This duck hides low,
With feathers muted
But a sly little glow.
She thinks she’s so clever
Quiet and still,
But a twitch of her head
Betrays her pretty bill.
With a flap and a quack
She jumps out with glee,
“I’m not very good
At hiding, you see!”
Pixie

  1. You write the most wonderful poems, Cloudia.
I'm working hard at not despairing by not listening to the news as much.

  6. It gives me great pleasure to know that, on the other side of the world, there is someone who fervently appreciates a poet whose texts move me.I also really like the texts you put online and the one you seem to have written.

  7. Oh how yummy is Pixie's kibble (or whatever cat food is called, because kibble makes me think of dog food)...and the poetry and photos...all delicious today!

  8. Your poem (and Pixie's) are lovely, Cloudia. Some of us ducks just aren't as clever as we might think!

  10. Is Pixie sticking her tongue out at you? Or is that a comment on the food?

  13. Does Pixie pounce on the duck when it jumps out of its hiding place, or does she just silently watch and twitch her tail?

    1. Ah! I misunderstood that the photos must all be from the files older than 2 years. Which all of these are. Thank you for setting me right. Have a beautiful week! Aloha
