Getting up before dawn wasn't bad,
in fact, it reminded me of how happy I was
back in the day
making my living
in the nether world of night.
The drive out there through Honolulu's dawn
was enjoyable.
My physician had prescribed an M.R.I on my back.
Of course I assumed that I would be exemplary,
going to my special place
and lying perfectly still inside the tube.
Favorite Husband had his paw MRI-ed last month
but only his lower extremities
had been "in the tube."
Well,
They put me
All The Way In.
Panic threatened.
I thought of the change in dynasties in China
that resulted in former officials
being incarcerated in the equivalent of steamer trunks
for years, with only a rice bowl- sized hole.
I thought of concentration camp inmates
pressed into cattle cars.
I thought of North Korea's prisons.
I shoulda thought about other things, eh?
Keeping my eyes closed
I impersonated a perfect patient.
But I was SO happy to get out of there!
Mercy! Really I
didn't realize I had agreed to do that!
I'll be recovering at home this weekend. . .
What have you got planned?
Warmly, cloudia

Oh God, my worst fear. You are so very brave, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteI hope good news came out of it.
Oh No! Do take time with healing. MRI are not my cup of tea, either. Yours, a full scan, does seem bit too much.
ReplyDeleteFeels good to be out under the skies! Thanks
ReplyDeleteGlad you're out and feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThinking of Chinese officials in their little boxes with rice bowl holes? ... only you, dear, only you!
You are truly fearless! I'm going to watch my grandchildren in a play this weekend, then go to a birthday party. And I'm also going to read, and sleep :)
ReplyDeleteAloha!
Wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteYo! Congrats for braving the "tube"! Whew! I sang Christmas songs and closed my eyes the first time I was in one. I took drugs and still couldn't stand to stay the next time. Seems MRI-induced claustrophobia gets worse with age, so I was able to spread my arms out in an open one. Hope your spine is divine. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteget well soon
ReplyDeletetake care

aloha!
I usuallly come close to falling to sleep to the rhythm when I'm in one.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you made it through that ordeal, Cloudia. What a time!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, haven't been in one of those things but know I would not be a happy camper as I do tend to the claustrophobic. Glad you're back home recovering from your experience. Feel better soon!

Cloudia! I hope everything turns out well. Think of gazelles running wild and free across the savannah, of wild birds flying to the limits of the stratosphere and be well.
ReplyDeletehugs for a peaceful weekend ~ louise xx

ReplyDeleteYou are a brave girl, Cloudia! It's not nice in a tube and above all it's boring. I hope that the result is better.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Cloudia and as always the right quotes!
great and take a good rest. Btw, I hv a new blog.
ReplyDeleteThere, there, it's all over now!
ReplyDeleteDidn't hurt now, did it?
Sorry you had to be shoved up a tube, hope the results will be favourable.
I had to go through that, too with my thyroid cancer scare and treatment. It's the clagging that bothered me.
ReplyDeleteDivine spine...yoga...
ReplyDeleteYou folks are the BEST!
Hope your back is now fine!
