"They always say that time changes things,
but you actually need to change them yourself."
Warhol
><>
Scene: A mother is driving her 2 small children in 1966.
The AM radio plays Rock & Roll.
As they pass a school bus stop,
teens are horsing around and preening for one another.
The child I was says:
"I can't wait to be a teen-ager. It looks like fun!"
Mom:
"Imagine how much fun it will be
when you get there. . ."
She had NO idea.
If the video below stirs memories,
you have my permission to lie about your age!
Warmly, cloudia

This post is dedicated to my little brother (he was also in the car)
who has written me a warm email concurring with our decisions about Mom's situation.
There had been estrangement and it was the nicest surprise I've enjoyed in a while!
LOVE the "puppy people." Glad there's a trace of tranquility from your brother. Please still keep your guard up a tad; you've got to protect YOU! Aloha, DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteI agree with Warhol!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the video but that song I've heard many times...
Aloha from Casa!
BLOGitse
I know that song was WAAAAAAY before my time. If our parents remembered what they had done as teenagers none of us would have been allowed to live long enough to allow our own children to live long enough to be teenagers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful possitive post, Cloudia! Great quotations and great video. Good to dedicate the story to your brother! Aloha!
ReplyDeleteShaloha dear Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading back in your blog and enjoying every post. The thoughts about your family from a few weeks ago let me understand the extra importance of what you say about your brother today.
May your situation get only better and not worse.
P.S. How is it that I don't know that song or even the singer?
ReplyDeletesmiles. home is where you are understood...i like that...hope you brother appreciates it...

ReplyDeleteSo... I'm writing this with DeeDee in the background--life IS good. Thanks for reminding me that I said the same thing on the porch of my best friend Karliene as we tried to dance like a 'teenager.' And Andy knew. . .
ReplyDeleteAloha, my friend!
For some reason the 'Hawaii Five 0' TV theme tune from the 60's is now suddenly playing my brain. I haven't though of it for donkey's years.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I enjoyed my visit.
DAMN that video is OLD, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you and your brother are no longer estranges - life is too short. x
ReplyDeleteI am glad you and your brother are in accord and talking .. life is too short to be on the outs with family
