What do YOU wear when you want to feel like
"yourself?"
What Clothes make you comfortable?
If your friends are colorful,
do you dress colorfully like the lady above?
Maybe you wear something that says:
"DANGER, I'm explosive!"
Perhaps a uniform
or piece of equipment
shows your identity:
"I do real serious, physical work:
building & repairing stuff.
I'm Patriotism & Union all the way!"
Hula Dancers wear foliage
(for Hula Kahiko: ancient hula)
or colorful mu`u mu`u
for Monarchy Era (and later) Hula `Auana.
What a bunch of dolls!
(there are a dizzying array of hula styles
under these broad headings.
see some here.)
Some of us go through life wearing a shell.
Others can't see it,
but they feel it.
For me,
my 'Chinatown Lion Dancing' T-shirt,
(one in black, one lucky red)
is my "go to."
Not my shirt. For illustration only.
For purchase go here.
The "base" is

The "base" is
my Dickies carpenter shorts
with tons of pockets
for camera & notebook,
bandanna,
and neccessaries. . .
(can't see the cargo pockets in this shot)
Of course, we all wear slippers
(what you probably call 'flip-flops')
And most importantly:
Pants,t-shirt, sweatshirt, a rain-wind breaker, a hat and sturdy hiking shoes. Yes, I'm comfortable in most places with this uniform. At home, shoeless.
ReplyDeleteLovely first picture....i like it.
ReplyDeletegreetings, Joop
Great look, Rosie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joop.

ReplyDeletei like a comfortable cotton sun dress with flip flops and always sun glasses.
ReplyDeleteJeans, Polo & T-shirt, runners, boots, thongs (Same as Flip-Flops), barefeet, windcheater, jumper, shorts, that's about it nothing fancy or over the top :-).
ReplyDeleteWhat joy to read !
ReplyDeleteIf weather allows an old T-Shirt, nearly as old Jeans and barefeet. Over the year, guess that I do spend more on tea than for clothes.
Please have a good Thursday.
daily athens
I wear long muumuus day and night. Very Hawaiian!
ReplyDeleteHey, I remember seeing you in a sarong on your boat! Don't you still wear them?
Your well-pocketed Dickie shorts look great! Very practical.
ReplyDeleteI love cooler weather, feel best in long pants and long sleeves, I get to run about like a mysterioso in cafes and such in my covered-up look.
Also LOVE sweat suits, cute ones, of course.
xoxo
Great post, Cloudia. I have something colourful coming up tomorrow. I love that first image. The woman's clothes make those parrots look bland! ;)

aloha!
Me, I pull on the low slung jeans, t-shirt I got on Maui, converse high tops and a big, old men's sports jacket.
ReplyDeleteThe shell, most people don't see that.
I also wear crocs year round (except when I have my barn boots on doing chores). In the winter, it's long underwear, a turtleneck and sweats until I am finished with barn duties for the day. My barn outfits are quite interesting. Then, it's jeans, t-neck and a sweater. In the summertime...shorts and a t-shirt. I'm into loose and comfortable.
ReplyDeletePS - you are invited to visit the farm and all our animals if you ever get to this part of the world! Thanks for your visits.
T-shirts, capris, and flip flops are my standard attire in the warm season! Cheers, cher!
ReplyDeleteShorts, Tee-shirts, Jeans...preferably no shoes......
ReplyDeleteOutdoors stuff turns me on though--LL Bean type dress-up & even Bubba Camo!!
J
Pretty much what has been mentioned already, old cargo shorts, surfer t-shirt, sandals, and my Air Margaritaville baseball cap.
ReplyDeleteIf I want to dress up I'll get rid of the surfer t-shirt and wear one of my Hawaiian shirts.
Nice and amusing clothes, fascinating rainbow!
ReplyDeleteDear Cloudia
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! Thank you for the nice comment on my blog.
All the best from Switzerland.
Yours Yvonne
Fishing with explosives....LOL!
ReplyDeleteMe, I wear mini dresses,
ReplyDeleteloose and black..
Not to match with anything else.
Hugs!!
long dresses and flip flops, no undergarments...when I'm working around my place in summer. Sweats and big socks in winter. Anything loose and comfortable!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
I love a lot this post, Cloudia !
ReplyDeleteALOHA !
Aloha Cloudia! Love that hat...
ReplyDeleteI’ll be out next week, but Blogtrotter Two has something new for you... Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend and week ahead!!
Oh...
ReplyDeleteT-Shirt, Carpenter Shots, A hat, and sports shoes ...
Greetings, Wong
I'm a t-shirt or tank top with capri girl. Gym shoes or slipper for da feet and maybe a floppy hat. I love your life guard hat!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute honesty...no fig leafs here.
ReplyDeleteOh! definitely jeans and sweat shirts in the winter...jeans and shirts in the summer...everything very comfortable...
ReplyDeleteShorts, t-shirt, ballcap and flip-slops do it for me.
ReplyDeleteJeans and a T-shirt, sunglasses and at my age - comfortable shoes - a must.
ReplyDeleteShorts & singlet would be great at home.
ReplyDeleteI am longing for my flip flops!
ReplyDeleteMy jeans, 't' shirt (or an old sweater) and sneakers are what I call my 'comfies'. Loved all the colorful photographs. Fun post Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteThat rainbow shot is fabulous! I love to wear sweat pants and sneakers... and a smile!
ReplyDeleteWhat do I wear to feel comfy? Depends on where I'm going. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the rainbow. :)
torn jeans and well worn t shirts.
ReplyDeleteRainbows seem to follow you! Okay, let's get truthful here -- anything without the bra! Old t-shirts, old nurse scrub tops, LOVE your "base" shorts -- I need to get some of those; and Teva, and only Teva, flip flops! Hooray for Hawaiian style! DrumMajor
