For Sharing

'Aloha' is not merely a word.
It is a concept, a philosophy of life, a powerfully simple
faith in Love.

Sometimes, I just need to stare.
And to recover. Pleasantly numb.
(Sounds too much like a drug reverie :-)

How about you? Do you give yourself
 this permission and time?

Hawaii is good for staring
 and soul healing -
 so much beauty.
'Polynesian Paralysis' we call it.
Along with the power of Aloha,
It's why folks visit here.

Watching people in their natural surroundings -
on the sand, by the sea, with their families,
or traveling alone for business, wisdom, or war. . .

It is healing to hear the tongues of the world,
all relaxing, all unwinding together in welcome,
all feeling lucky they 'came Hawaii.'

"It's a pleasant thing to be young,
and have ten toes." Robert Louis Stevenson

Watching people, clouds, animals, flowers. . .
hearing the breeze, the surf,
 Hawaiian guitars-

replenishes the flame in my soul.

I hope you feel that way
when you come here
to share what we care about,
and play in the sand
of your mind's eye. . .
enjoying the warm sun of our mutual
Aloha. . .

thank Y O U

         for sharing it.  cloudia

  1. I come there frequently - thanks to you - and enjoy it immensely. Even vicarious visits have an effect if well described and well imagined.

  2. Can't wait to get on a plane and head out that way. Hopefully next year. Maybe we can finally meet up, now that would be lovely :)

I know a beach here in South Carolina which even in the summer months is never crowded and in the winter months is totally deserted at times. When I am able I love to go and sit in the sand there and just stare. Its a great feeling and at times its easy to make myself believe I am the only person on the planet.

After a couple of hours like that I am able to deal with people again.

  4. I doubt I will ever get to visit Hawaii (unless I stop over if I ever get to visit Australia which is looking like less of a reality every year - even though we now have family there) but our little place in Belize I think will give much the same effect. I have a PhD in staring.

  10. Two more days from today I will be in the air flying towards your paradise, Cloudia. I am not sure it will be relaxing. I looked at the huge conference brochure over the weekend--the size of a thick catalog--and kind of intimidated myself. Can't wait for dim sum!!

  12. This is certainly a nice place to be. I especially love my tai chi at the park under the trees with the breezes flowing by as the chi rises.

  14. I often partake in the unfocused stare...and then must recover and go about my day. Beautiful, Aloha!

  16. Stop and stare. I was brought up that way. Once a week my mother would get me at school and we would go to a Paris café or a pastry shop and have a cup of tea and a cake, then stay there for at least an hour, watching the people go by. Then, I thought everyone did that.

  19. I regularly give myself the space I need. :-) Sitting, staring, usually in front of an episode of "Cops".

I also find that yoga is a good time to shut my brain up. :-) It's like a little vacation.

  20. I enjoyed this. I think you are great.

I have taken the time to be still at breakfast at 4:30 a.m. Instead of turning on the computer or the Kindle or opening a book, I eat in quiet stillness and then go for a walk. I feel very full and very aware of how crunchy my granola really is!

  21. I'm frequently numb after coming home from work :) And I give myself time, in the evenings and on the weekends, to recover by doing nothing. The power of ahhh.

  22. Yes, we need time off from the cares of the world. They are always with us but can do without our attention now and then.

  28. you help me to visit, otherwise I'd never get a chance to poke my toes into warm sand.

  29. I'd like to "give myself time to recover", but that's the problem...time!! Too many things to do! If I ever do....I want to coem to Hawaii!!

  30. No, I don't give myself that time. Instead, I find myself fantasizing about beating up random strangers in Walmart. I guess I'd better take your advice.
