Each of us humans
has been damaged.
scraped knees, hurt feelings,
and more.
Each one of us.
There is:
Unknown Damage,
Unacknowledged Damage,
UNDERSTOOD Damage.
Some cannot see
their own wounded places;
Unknown to themselves
they fester
into more damage-
to themselves
and to others.
Some of us, and I am one,
have run from our scars.
Thinking we needed to be special,
Perfect,
to be worthy
to be worthy
we run from our
Unacknowledged.
Unacknowledged.
To look, to accept, to just
BE
with our damaged selves
allows ever-polite
Compassion
Compassion
to arise.
Emptying ourselves
of excuses
has welcomed her.

First things first: Where’s the other leg?
ReplyDeleteScars are part of everybody’s life, compassion should be, for ourselves most of all.
One is scarred for life, either physically or mentally. As long as no material damage to oneself it's an experience worth having!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are just fantastic, Cloudia! We're are the ones who are lucky that you are based in Hawaii with all the exotic offerings from you!

ReplyDeleteThe Power of Positive Thinking Cloudia!
ReplyDeleteIt's so important to cultivate compassion. You're right - it's what soothes our wounds and smoothens our scars.
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures...
ReplyDeleteCompassion is the secret Cloudia, if only more people would discover it the world would be a much nicer place.
ReplyDeleteI had the great fortune of being able to see the Dalai Lama speak in person recently. If more people followed his advice and practiced compassion the world would be a better place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts for the day, I really believe in the one about compassion and trying to turn negative situations into positive ones - something I want to work on more myself!
ReplyDeleteIt's the scars that make us not only beautiful, but unique. This was lovely, Cloudia.
ReplyDeleteAnother very wise post, I particularly liked the 14th Dalai Lama quote. Have a great week my friend :)

ReplyDeleteAloha Cloudia !
Oh yes - we need the army of the kind.
I know, that's why I carry extra band-aids! :) Your first quote is my new favorite!
ReplyDeleteLove these! Yes, the golden plover is standing on one foot...we call her kolea in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteAloha
So true - if we embrace ourselves, scars and all, we'll feel a lot better.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images and quotes, totally agree with the Dalai Lama one!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
